As long as we're talking more in the general sense here, in terms of kindness, time ect, rather than sex. Not everyone thinks that way, thus, I think it's good to have one reason/time period to do things (give) to actually remind those who don't have the same mentality as you, that it's good to give or at least to get that idea across, even if it is a commercial holiday like Xmas, Valentines day, Easter ect.
