#modelmonday! 29.9.14. pt 1. this week i'm spotlighting the original anti-supermodel #supermodel, one of the major instigators of the "waif" movement of the early #90s. hailing from eastern pennsylvania she is a #unique #beauty, rejected at the start of her carer within the us, having once been told by #eileenford that she would need to get plastic surgery if she was to ever make a carer in modelling. it was in #paris she got her break when discovered by industry legend #peterlindbergh, this would be the moment her carer would really to take off! her #chameleon qualities are #legendary in the fashion world, her actress like abilities and her ever changing hair colours that rivalled another legend, #lindaevangelista ( which lyes a major discrepancy over who first sported the blonde with black roots look ). she had spunk, attitude and was never afraid to take risks. there is a legendary story involving kristen and #gianniversace, it was in 1997 in paris, upon hearing she would not be walking the runway ( as she was "not couture enough" ),storms into the designers fittings at the #ritz, strips down to just her heels and underwear, strikes a pose and declares, "am i couture or what?!". she was booked immediately. #supermodel

When the model Kristen McMenamy shaved off her eyebrows for Anna Sui’s fall 1992 collection, the look was shocking and watershed; the ’90s had arrived, weird and grungy. No more big-haired bombshells, no more Christie Brinkley prom-queen smiles. With her jet-black hair and a forehead now made entirely of negative space, McMenamy looked half-alien. Like Ziggy Stardust before her, that was probably the intention.
