What's with that? Is that supposed to be a topical affairs programme, a comedy or some kind of bizarre halfway house? :| Either way, it's pretty poor. The host. I'm looking forward to my foray into the New World a little less.

Good point about education systems and the like earlier. As you suggest, one's performance in exams correlates more with how the exam and educational system are set up than with one's "intelligence". I'm really not fond of the concept of "intelligence" and the ways that we measure "it", certainly not IQ, and that's not just because I stink at IQ tests.

Oh, you're very responsible child-wise. I must admit that I took you for an "eww, kids" girl. I don't think that it's as much work as you reckon though.

I now have to go to Canada when I'm abroad in the Summer. US Visas. <_< It's looking like Toronto at the moment.

Just out of curiosity, do mounties still have to do the whole gay fruit machine thing?

Sadly it's all true. I'm sorry but our national defense isn't what it used to be 20 years ago. Sure, the Americans were still violating our sovreignty on a daily basis back then as well but at least we had something. That's right, they're talking about invading us but they don't even realize they're already doing it. We just don't do or say anything about it because it helps us but more importantly, we don't have a choice in the matter anyway. I'm sorry for agreeing with Harper but I'm glad he set aside that $450 billion last summer for DoD. Call it a waste of money that should have been used to improve infrastructure but we as a nation have been much too happy to let the American cruisers and F-16s fly around in OUR Arctic and freeload off of their paranoia to take care of ourselves.

Oh, I'm not at all denying that it's true. I agree with everything you said, I know that Canada's military is definitely laughable and it's been mocked many times. I was just particularly irritated by how the show discussed the issue. I mean, I've seen our military be made fun of before and I've laughed along with it, but that programme is just annoying. It wasn't even slightly funny because all the jokes are unoriginal, based on old stereotypes and none of them are even delivered in a new or entertaining way. I have nothing against the US, personally, but shows like this are the reason why many people don't like Americans. These people are representing America on TV and they just come across as ignorant and possessing intense delusions of grandeur. As if enough people don't assume that Americans are like that already, they're just enforcing the stereotype even more.

By the way, you said that you're sorry for agreeing with Harper.

Who do you typically support, then? Just out of curiosity

I honestly don't know. Topical affairs programme or comedy, they're failing both ways.

Thank-you At least I'm not the only one who thinks that

those types of evaluationsare inaccurate. You're in university, right?

What're you studying?

I'm not so much an "Ew, kids" girl, even though I like to simply put it that

way at first. I'm just super realistic and self aware enough to know that

I would fail as a mother.

Toronto is lovely

What do you mean by gay fruit machine thing?

I totally agree. That one guy's parents are definitely cousins and the rest of them are from small towns where everyone has one of three different last names but at the same time, they're entitled to behave that way. They're the only country in the world that doesn't need anyone else. You might think they need us but really they could just simply close off their borders, march into Ontario and Saskatchewan, steal all the Uranium, and presto: a fully self sustaining economy.

To answer your question... I support me. The Conservatives are way too out of touch with the values of most Canadians, the Liberals are the same way except they're better liars (I hate the Liberals. especially my local MP and the Premiere of Ontario), the NDP try to help but Layton's porstache keeps people from taking him seriously, the Bloc want to tear the country apart, and the Green party... don't get me started on those hippies.

However, I do find myself agreeing with Harper on a lot of things. Not a fan overall, he went to University of Calgary - those guys are figgin' scary swung to the right and believe that the States is the center of the universe. However, those guys are also brilliant. You can't deny it when a guy knows what he's doing. Just keep an eye on him... luckily he has idiots like Jim Prentice working for him to keep him from getting too productive.

Personally, I think that that news programme is just lowest common denominator stuff. Naturally Canada and the US will have divergent interests now and then, and quite understandably both countries have rather different capacities. In many ways this seems to parallel the UK-US "special", or not so, relationship. American commentators love calling the UK "America's poodle" when the two countries agree and are working together, but when the UK doesn't collaborate with the US, the same commentators are up in arms and are describing the UK as "unloyal", "ungrateful" and "self-serving". The commentators rip Canada and the UK for being both too dependent and too independent of the US. Ultimately, I think that both countries will be teased regardless of what they do. . . . I'm not sure that made much sense. Oh well.

I am at university. Medicine. I think that I am well on my way to becoming one of those white-collar, conservative prudes that you dread , except that I'm not into maths; I was good at it at school though.

Gosh! Why am I trying to sell you parenthood? :| I'll stop now.

The "fruit machine" thing was mentioned in the last episode of QI. Don't worry about it.

True. There are aspects of intelligence that are reliable too though. I'd be inclined to argue for Emotional Intelligence as a far more valuable asset to teach kids, but despite so many books written about it, its validity is still rather questionable

I definitely don't think that the US needs Canada, but, like you said, it's a good idea that we're staying close to them. For our own sake. It's bizarre, though. Canada is so massive but still so unopposing, I don't see how we manage it.

Thanks for sharing your opinions, though. I honestly agree with a significant amount of what you have to say. Though I don't believe that Canada is a nation possessing conservative values, I think that they're the ones in power right now because no one trusts the Liberals. I know that no one in BC likes the Liberals because our Premiere is Liberal and he's been pretty shady. Sounds like things are the same in Ontario. At least they're consistent.

What you said was very true. It does sounds as if we're both too dependent and independent.

There's always something to critcize, though.

Well, whatever makes you happy! You're a decent guy, I'd like you to be my doctor

As long as you don't mind having a nudist/artist/writer patient

Don't worry too much, it's impossible to sell me parenthood :|

I know

I'm not one to celebrate birthdays, really. I find it vain and pretty pointless in concept.

But I'm pretty stoked for my 16th birthday because there're acutally many reasons for me to celebrate!

I'm lovely, thanks. You?

It's great fun; you meet lots of different people, it's rather interesting and you're not stuck behind a desk all day. You get to help people a bit too. Although, I suppose that every job - bar traffic wardening, of course - helps people really. It's lots of work and nasty hours to begin with, but all-in-all it'll be worth it.

I've already met lots and lots of weird and wonderful people ; I'm not sure that you, nudist or not, would come anywhere near the oddest.

Do you have any idea what you want to "be" when you're older? . . . I do find it rather odd, yet slightly amusing, the way that people are pigeonholed and judged so much on the basis of their profession.

Any exciting plans for the birthday? (I make a point of not wearing party-hats, paper-hats and the like, but I'll make an exception this once )

. . . And don't worry I don't really aspire to be a middle-class, middle-aged bore. I undoubtedly would make quite a good job of it though.

Oh no, it definitely would be a lovely job. It sounds like you're really happy about it, too. That's fantastic!

Do tell me at least one story about a weirdo you've met!

That's very true. I must admit, I do judge people based on their profession. It does say a lot about you, though. If you like your job then it says a lot about your passions. However, if you don't like your job then it could be assumed that you're unmotivated/unhappy, though I wouldn't necessarily make that assumption. Either way, your chosen profession says a lot about your basic abilities, at the very least.

I'm not too sure what I would like to do. Its weird because dance is a huge part of my life, but I don't think that I would want to become a professional dancer. I would love to study art and become an artist, but I'm realistic and I'll most likely leave art as a hobby. At this point in time I'm most likely going to get into journalism, specifically lifestyle & fashion journalism. But I change my mind with the wind. There are just so many things that I want to do with my life

For my birthday I'm having a mexican fiesta. Moustaches, ponchos, quesadillas, tequila etc That will be on Friday. Saturday, I'm hopefully going out with my

boyfriend

. Then Sunday is my actual birthday, I'll be spending it with family. Probably go out for dinner or something Thanks for wearing the hat just for me, btw.
