THE FOOTBALL OSCARS

MILAN - Rossoneri players Andrea Pirlo, Ricky Kakà and Sandro Nesta were among the nominated players for the Football Oscars of 2007, assigned by Aic.

Kaká and Pirlo, along with Totti, De Rossi, Ibrahimovic and Mutu, will contend the Oscar for best overall player.

The ceremony for the 11th edition of this award will take place on 28 January at the Auditorium in Milan. Here are all the nominations:

Best Italian player: Pirlo, Totti, De Rossi

Best foreign player: Kaká, Ibrahimovic, Mutu

Best goalkeeper: Frey, Julio Cesar, Peruzzi

Best young player: Montolivo, Pazzini, G.Rossi

Best defender: Nesta, Materazzi, Mexes

Best overall player: chosen among the winners of the categories 'best italian' and 'best foreign player'

Champion of champions: chosen among the ten winners of the 'best overall player' from 1997 to 2007

There will also be three special Sportitalia prizes, which will be subjected to the judgement of the TV viewers:

Kaka keen to stay on at San Siro

Kaka has refused to add fuel to speculation linking him with Chelsea and Real Madrid as he continues to stall on signing a new AC Milan deal.

Milan are keen to reward Kaka, who is already contracted to the Serie A giants until 2011, with a new bumper deal worth over Ј6million a year.

However, the Brazil midfielder has stalled on talks in the light of the recent violent scenes that have blighted the game in Serie A.

Kaka is also likely to be upset by the news that AC's city rivals Inter are set to hand Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic a new Ј7.5million a year deal that puts his deal at the San Siro in the shade.

Chelsea and Real Madrid are both keen admirers of Kaka and neither side would have a problem matching any contract demands the 25-year-old may have.

However, Kaka insists he is still happy at Milan and says he will only leave if he is forced out.

"I never said that I want to leave Italy," he told Corriere della Sera. "I just said the spiralling violence can make important players leave.

"I just wanted to warn people and to offer a contribution to the league I am playing in.

"I am very happy here."

AC Milan's Ronaldo: Kaka will win Ballon d'Or - and stay

Ronaldo is backing AC Milan teammate Kaka to win the Ballon d'Or next month - and to also stay at the San Siro.

"I think, yes, he will win it," said Ronaldo. "I made a joke with him by asking if the Ballon d'Or organization had called. I frightened him by saying that they usually contact you one month before the ceremony to take some photos! But of course it's not true, the pictures are actually taken in the last two weeks, and there is still time.

"I am sure that he'll win for what he has done throughout this year and the past season.

"Is Kaka unsettled? I do not think so, he is happy, we are all happy here in Milan."
