the 18th of September is actually late to start, not early. Most colleges I know of (in the US) begin late August. And the academic year ends in May, late May for Harvard, mid May for most.

Aah I see. Mid September is early over here. Most colleges start at the beginning or mid October and the year ends at the end of May. But that has a lot to do with the fact that some courses can be retaken during the summer (in case you failed them). Then you can retake the exam in september.

my schools fall sem. stars the 28th of september

I know Stanford starts later than us (oddly enough still gets out EARLIER, those bastards) and MIT ends around the same time as us, though I don't know when they start. But most schools, you have to be there by late August and classes start very early september at the latest.

I know in France they start in October pretty much When my best friend studied abroad last fall, she started classes in October and was done with the semester in December (finals included). Compare that with Harvard: we start mid-Sept, classes end in December, but finals arent given until January :| Most schools have exams before winter break but oh no! not us! which I'm okay with for the most part (I think everything would be too crammed otherwise, it already is) but when we come back from winter break we get 2 weeks of reading period. TWO WEEKS!!! :| Totally unnecessary man. Then we have exams for about a week and a half, then we have a week of intercession. Then 2nd term starts February.

Oh yes and I should add that at Harvard registration is different...so we have a week of shopping period each term where we're allowed to check out classes without being obligated to stick with them. So classes aren't even official for an additional week. I don't know...it's just fucking weird <_<

some colleges start mid-september but it's true that it's mostly in october however the finals in most colleges are in january, not december... but remember something: how many french universities are in the top100 worldwide ?

ummm you don't now Conception Day? It's the day we drop all our lectures and celebrate the birth of the university by holding a massive party where every student gets totally wasted you like? it's normally held in the Sam building and across the fields.

We get students from other unis and good ol' fashioned randoms coming/crashing...just cause MQ rocks
