Is there going to be a cap on how many times a member can change their name or are we just going to let them do it whenever they want?

I think it might be a good idea, either a cap on the number of changes, or at least the amount of times they can have it changed in a certain amount of time.

Maybe 2 or 3 name changes total, or a change once in a 5 month period or something.

How about 1 username change per person? You don't want to have a situtation when members are changing usernames every few months.

I agree on the one name change, so shall I bust everyone's bubble and post about it in the thread or are there any objections?

I have no problems with it, I mean they have all the time in the world to think over their names before registering, so it should be relatively well chosen to begin with. Changing it up once should be more than enough for most people, and for those people who it's not, will just have to be happy with it anyways.

once should be enough eventhough we're gonna recieve tons of complaining when people dont like their new names

but ehh maybe the timed one is a better idea

People should really consider that before they change.

People complain anyway. Either they don't like their name, or they don't like that other people change theirs, or whatever. Not everyone is going to be happy about this, but in general, I don't think we should change names at all. But that could just be me. You have to think of a name when you join, and on every other forum I've ever been on, what you pick is what you're stuck with

I say no name changes as well. and no account deletions, you created it, and it stays forever.

Question, was LimaFan's warning level raised because of the little "incident" in the Sign Ups thread? Or was there something else that I just haven't noticed yet?

edit: So I hear Marduk's in Vegas for the weekend...I still expect an answer when he gets back!

I think we need a disclaimer during registration saying something to the effect of,

"Creating multiple accounts will result in a violent knee to the face"

What do you guys think, you wanna run with it?

Also, I think name changes should be published publicly.

I thought there would be some support.

Might be a good idea to put that list out there for everyone, just so they can keep track of each other also.

Nah, that's a bit harsh.

I recieved the following PM from Sanjafl

Hi!

I was wondering is it posible to change my username to sanja (not sanjafl anymore), but not to lose my posts????!!!

Greetings, Sanja

Yeah, maybe a little harsh, could scale it back a bit.

I went ahead and changed up her name for her, shouldn't be penalized for wanting two letters removed, and it's not like we won't still know who she is.

I don't think there's any need to delete people's account when they want to leave either, doesn't make much sense. But considering that the majority of people will not want to change their username, I don't think it's a huge hassle to allow the ones that do, to change it once. I mean we have almost 4000 registered users, and 20 have wanted a name change, not too bad.
