hahahaahahahaha :| that's what the cinemas are for
or if you were like me you'd be home in 10 minutes ![]()

ok I need your advice Lee.
I've looked up the specs on each of these models but I can't decide.
Is 2 GB enough for an MP3 player? (especially considering I drive and I only need to use it on the bus every now and then)
These are the models I have considered:
iriver T30 (1 GB) ![]()
iriver H10 (20 GB) ![]()
Samsung YP-U1Q (2 GB) ![]()
Monolith MX7000 (2 GB) ![]()
and my last choice:
iPod Nano (2/4 GB) <_<
which one should I get? ![]()

Damn! That's half a life ago!
I'm also looking forward to hear (read) some mp3 advice. I want one, but I'm not ging to use it a whole lot. I still want it to carry a decent music collection though, rather than storing a lot on the computer.

We're in the same boat, but I think llama's just gonna say "ipod irocks" or something lame like that ![]()
I got some info on what I want to buy from www.advancedmp3players.co.uk it has a some good info. Just read the specs and you'll be right I think ![]()

I bokmarked for research, but it doesn't look like the place to buy. The FAQ says Free Delivery in the UK, but NOTHING about non-UK delivery. I'm thinking more and more that I'm going for most hard-disc possible (for a reasonable price). What if I take the train in the morning and want some Beatles to wake me up, then later I feel like old Blur and then Mozart for the train ride home?
Llamas mp3 player reviews
Ok Edwiener, heres llamas reviews for you! im trying to break it all down into what i think is important in an mp3 player with pros cons, etc, and at the end.. I shall reccomend the iPod most pimping player for you.
iriver T30 (1 GB)
Total Price: $215
Cost per GB $215
Capacity: 250 mp3 songs
Pros:
- feather light so you wont have to strain your precious self
- "solid" sound quality (dont know what the fuck that means. i guess it'll play yaw tunes and you'll be able to hear them
- built in sound recorder
- long battery life (alledgedly about 20 hours, trust me it'll be less than that.)
cons:
- extremely basic and less than thrilling player
- Butt. Ugly. Not even a couple of lackluster colour options make this player pleasing to the eye. Song display screen looks somewhat messy also IMO
- Somewhat unnatractive display
- Runs on a battery. an AAA battery. i dunno i just prefer my players to have a built in rechargable batt. nothings more annoying than hunting around for battery. especially the damn small ones. Maybe thats just me tho

iRiver H10 20GB
Total Price: $399
Cost Per GB: $19.95
Capacity: Holds approx 5000 songs
Pros:
- suprisingly attractive
- good value when examined in cost per GB
- nice battery life (15 hours approx)
- purty color screeen
- player comes in a choice of colours (well silver, blue and red as far as i know)
Cons: (yikes i really wouldnt buy this ed)
- controls difficult to use (takes a lot of time to scroll through songs etc)
- player slows down as more songs put on it (i.e. it will work like a snail if you actually put 5000 songs on it apparently)
- song shuffle feature not all that good at shuffling
- "It freezes in almost daily use, and I will promise you that it will freeze at least once a day. It also crashes alot too." - Review By Durfen at Cnet
- alphabetises songs rather than placing them in track order.
- no album art option

Samsung YP-U1Q 2GB
*********ED! im not even gonna try and do this one proper, for some reason i couldnt find anything for it on australian sites, or any other sites i was looking at either.**********
Total Price: $?
Cost Per GB: $?
Capacity: Holds approx 500 songs (1000 if theyre in WMA format i believe)
Pros:
- um.. *squints at photo*.. light and compact?
Cons:
- I can only find information about this player on european sites!!! so unless youve seen it in australia or are truly desperate for it to be held in your sweaty little palms.. then why bother. (i bet your gonna correct me and tell me its available everywhere in Austrlia but BOO! STFU!)

Monolith MX7000
Once again I dont know the Austrlian prices, couldnt even find them, but i'll make an effort with the pro's and cons.
Pros:
- Very strong... went thru many bashing sessions with the ugly stick during the testing process. Even if you want it to, this thing wont die.
- nobodys gonna steal it...
- FM radio
- 18 hour battery life
Cons:
- oh my god it looks like one of those $2 AM radios my grandpa used to have
- It is a smear on our beautiful planet
- ugly ugly ugly ugly

Ipod Nano
Total Price:
1gb $219
2gb $299
4gb $359
Cost per GB
1gb $219
2gb $149.50
4gb $89.75
Capacity
1gb 250 songs
2gb 500 songs
4gb 1000 songs
Pros:
- "impossibly small" (kinda like your package huh ed?)
- full colour LCD screen display with album art suppourt
- stores photos (think of all the fetish porn pix you could have at your fingertips)
- includes all of apples fun extras, screen lock, stopwatch, alarm, international clocks, games, calendar, contacts, etc etc
- 14 hour battery life
Cons:
- fuckers a scratch magnet! i wouldnt even leave the store without buying a case for it. thats gonna potentially add another $20-$50 to the cost of ur purchase. but seriously its a must. Ive been carrying mine around in its original packaging like an asshole cause i dont wanna have it scratched up like a skating rink.
- fragile.. im sure everyone knows someone who knows some fatass whose sat down with there nano in the back pocket and *crack*... yeah. and apple warranties dont cover nano-butt crushings. Once again investing in a good case should keep it a bit safer
- tiny screen isnt the best for picture viewing.

without even the tinyest bit of bias (ok maybe some) id reccomend you the nano. the only real problem with it is scratching, but you definatley getting your value for money. colour screen, compact sleek sexyness, etc. its worth it even if you have to buy the extra $19.95 case or whatevs. If your careful nothing should go wrong. And if your not going to get that id probably go for the iriver T30.. altho consider the fact that spending an extra $2 will get you a full colour 1gb nano with photo suppourt and full colour screens. think about it.
Anywoo hope that was of some help to you. buy a nano bitch!

Thanks for pointing out the freezing issue. I was already on my way to look for Danish distribution on the iriver. That's the kind of pricing I'm looking for.
i think that apple and creative are the real leaders in the PMP world. i didnt review creatives ZEN or anything but they seem to have theyre heads screwed on straight, and are producing technologies that may be able to compete with the market leader. iPod will still own there ass tho. both in coolness and value for money.
yello lee ![]()
u got a nano
my friend realised 2 weeks after she got hers that she has games on it
what's up? ![]()

I know... And with the iPod you don't have to look all over town for a cool design...
Now I just have to find the Special Edition iPod with that cute little "Llama Approved" stamp.

so I hear ipod batteries are SHIT. elaborate.
I think I might get the Samsung or the Monolith. People bring stuff from overseas.
