I've seen some of those Ralph Lauren shots on the Internet maybe ten or fifteen years ago but never anywhere near this quality.

Never did I. I only saw tagged small versions on Gettyimages and similar sites. But I have recently gained an access to a large vintage photo archive and was able to fetch hundreds of different runway images from there.
