OHHHH and to answer my pick in the poll (I forgot about the whole point of the thread)

AMD all the way
i had an Intel once, keep havinf troubles with it, now i have my AMD 2400+ it's awesome
Thanks Islanq, that's a very good temp you're running. I'm lucky if I run at 33 degrees. With the original P4 fan I went up to 60 degrees when pushing it!!

My system is kind of old.
Dell Inspiron 2650
Intel P4 1.89 Ghz
256 RAM
20 Gig HD
Internal DVD drive (16X)
Exteranl CD-RW drive (24X)
up to 60 degrees
Whoa man!
Thats hot! I know in a Dell I got the heatsink to go to 75° on a dell, driving the hell out of it
Needless to say, it got messed up
And it also proves the one 120mm fan on dells suck - cheapo's

AMD All the way. As for my specs.. not great:
AMD Athlon 2000+
640MB DDR RAM
50GB Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 9550 Gfx Card
DSL Connection.

how do you read amd prosessor speeds?

basically 2000+ is the same as a Pentium 2GHz, 2500+ is a 2.5GHz, etc.

i see
AMD all the way for me as well. They offer the same performance, speed and durability as Intel, sometimes even better, for a lot less. They are the two major CPU manufacturers in the business, so either one is great. But my choice is AMD.
My specs:
3.2 GHz processor. (AMD Athlon XP)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard
1GB DDR Ram (400MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) )
ATI Radeon 9000 128MB video card
2x 120GB hardrives
Logitech MX500 mouse
Logitech Elite keyboard
Logitech 2.1 Speakers
Pioneer amplifier
18" Subwoofer
