Responding to your point, I think sometimes people get tired of voting for the same person over and over. I'm not saying I know that happened this time, but I have noticed that before. Maybe the result would have been different if Kate had not won 8 in a row leading up to the match.

It's also true that Emilia Clarke is more popular nowadays because of Game of Thrones (and many other roles in movies) rather than Kate Beckinsale, who is a gorgeous woman but not as popular as Emilia is nowadays. So I guess this counts too.
