hi Benhow is it going for you?
you probably know a movie "Amelia from Monmart" (i could spell it wrong)
you're french so i thought you'll know that actor who was that guy Amelia was fallen in love
i wanted to know who's he and is he known actor in France?
Hey ! his name is Mathieu Kassovitz, i think he's very cute and a great actor, and yes, he's fairly well-known in France
thank you very much, i love him. he is really very cute, actually i find him handsome
in my opinion it's the best french movie
you never know what may happen :brows:still on vacation ? :|
Mine is about trial jury
but it's done and over with
i just have one last report left :|
That's true too ![]()
Yup
i have to go to college in a week ![]()
That's sound pretty hard
I hope that that last report will be over and done with soon and that you can take a rest
Mine is about anti-matter,dark matter, black holes you know stuff to get my points for physics ![]()

i hope you can get that sentence right now that i taught you some french grammar
![]()
I've already forgotten what you taught me ![]()

That sounds really interesting. Have you read any of Hawking's works?

oh it sounds so cool, you can't imagine how cool it is, I read a page, everything seems logical but when I finish I realize that I didn't understand a thing
![]()
You do philosophy?
Out of interest, what do you learn in Russian philosophy? Being Australian, I was only taught about western tradition and I don't know much about philosophers from Eastern Europe or the rest of the world
And philosophy has a way of doing that to you...it seems to make sense but it never really does. I find the best way to understand most of the ideas is by smoking mind-altering drugs
:atoobie:
really :|

philosophy is not my major discipline, actually I am studing economics.
We didn't learn exactly only Russian philosophy, I think we'll do it later. I was learning about some basic things like metaphysics, dialectics, idealism, materialism and stuff like that, and about some biggest philosophers like Platon and Pier Abelar (a French philosopher btw) and their works and theories
when I read that I had a feeling I am going crazy, I just don't get philosophy at all, I managed to understand and learn that but it was not easy, fortunately I passed all that nicely which I am very happy about. ![]()
That sounds really interesting. Have you read any of Hawking's works?
jup i've read his books about the universe, and other books too
I find this pretty interesting
It really keeps me thinking
I really wonder how the universe ever began and what's behind the end and if there are multiple universes wich i think
and so on
And offcourse the question wich would be the coolest wether if time travel would be possible ![]()
I get tomorrow, friday and the weekend![]()

I'm going to travel tomorrow and come back on sunday
wanna do the nacionality comp? :brows:
you could put france since this is already the estonian final and you don't have to update it everyday just when you want
how was your holidays ?
sorry i totally forgot about the nationality comp, i closed the estonian round but didn't start the french one :|
Great! I went to the farm with my cousins and we had a lot of fun
no prob
I'll only re-alive it when I have the time, I'm too lazy at the moment with so many tests
and I'm still on bz ![]()
(Y)
I will leave comments :brows:

I commented back ![]()
When will HIT be making an appearance in your blog :| Hana in the banner is not enough :persuazn:

I've never heard of Platon and Abelar :| Unless you meant Plato for the first guy
What did they write about? We deal more with the Ancient Greeks down to the modernists like Descartes, Hume and Locke. I guess there's a somewhat psychological orientation as well for some philosophical courses I've studied. I'm inclined to think that a lot of the study we do in psychology and philosophy in Australia is still very much in line with a modernist, western tradition
Are you just doing philosophy as a topic out of interest? I guess the only philosophy you'd be reading up on regarding Economics would be Keynesian ![]()
Philosophy is a bit tricky as well from my experience. It's really interesting but sometimes you need to read a text 4-6 times before you start to understand the concepts, arguments and underlying themes (unless that's just me of course...I might just be the stupid one
) But I really liked it because it encourages debate and engagement with the material unlike some other subjects where you only need to memorise the textbook <_< I'm glad you passed ![]()

You must be smart :| I haven't touched any of his stuff. I see his books and they are like 3000 pages long and I get scared
I did a philosophy course that touched on the topics of multiple dimensions and time travel. I could probably dig up a few articles for you if you wanted them
of course it gets all technical and really takes the fun out of just imaging yourself going back in time and killing your own father
Would it be possible to go back to a time before you were born and kill your own father? If so, what happens to you? :|

I'm not smart
I only know things about stuff that i find interesting
Yeah the books are really big,but you should download stephen hawkings universe then,it's a 6 episode mini serie about we know from the universe from when they thaught the earth was flat untill now,you allways may dig up them
And did you know there are probably about 13 dimensions in our world? And we only know 4
I think it won't harm you all all because i think when you go back or forward in time through a black hole i think that you would come into a parallel universe where everything is opposite like in your world so if you would kill your father, you in the other universe wouldn't exist, but you and your father would still exist in your universe,i would be rather worried when you touch your other self from the parallel universe :|

It's entertaining for me to think about but I don't think I would ever get around to making an effort to hunt down the episodes though
so I'm not going to make any promises :| I think they showed the Universe show on one of the channels down here a couple of years ago but I couldn't be bothered watching it
and yes there are other dimensions. If you do anything involving fractals, you'll see that it's possible to get 3.5 dimensions and weird stuff like that too! All very interesting but I wonder how they come to such (seemingly) insane conclusions
There are also computer programs that model the activity of the brain/mind in multi-dimensional space...trippy! :atoobie:
Someone postulated that there are multiple universes like bubbles and where they touch each other is a black hole joining the two universes or something
And there are theories that deal with your theory about time travel as well
but is it really time travel if you are only travelling to another dimension and not really back in time?
It's too bad I wasn't paying attention when the lecturer was discussing all this because I was too busy sleeping ![]()
Touching yourself
and I am a self-proclaimed edsexual
maybe that's not a bad idea. I could totally travel to another dimension and do myself!
ummmm...
anyway ![]()

I would send them to you,but they are 700 mb each
Well that's weird
The theory around the 13 dimensions is with the snare theory,i'll try to explain that later because it's pretty hard to explain it simply
The bubble theory is one of the theories to explain how the universe started, you also have the snare theory and the theory to put quantum mechanics and Einstein's relativity into one equasion because both of those equasions stop with the beginning of the universe, just as all laws of physics stop when you enter a black hole
But first of all i think i would be impossible to travel through time trough a black hole i think you would have to find a way to bend time and space just as every object in the Universe does and travel with the speed of light, and i think when you could time travel to another universe you cannot tell where you'll land you could end up in the future or the past
Well if you would touch your other self it could be that both universes stop to exist or just you i wouldn't know
That's because everything as matter and anti-matter in them, with the beginning of the universe there was matter and anti-matter,so for example when i have a pen there would be a pen made of matter and a pen made of anti-matter when they come in touch with eachother it would vanish,if there would be the same amount of matter and anti-matter in the beginning there wouldn't be a universe there was just a little more matter than anti-matter,that's why the universe could exist,so you have to see you as matter and the other you as anti-matter when you touch eachother you would destroy eachother

snare theory? also, what is the string theory? I've read a little bit about it but I don't understand it at all ![]()
and yes, it seems the big bang at t=0 is no different from creationism <_< well at least it has more practical value ![]()
I think McTaggert (
)proposed 2 established ways of viewing the flow of time, A-series and B-series or something. That's all I remember ![]()
but a lot of philosophical theories about time-travel are based on either an A or B-series conception of time. You might find it interesting to read up ![]()
I've studied a bit about the Big Bang and anti-matter and normal matter and I've read about how they neutralise each other but I wouldn't go so far as to claim that a creation composed of matter would necessarily have a "twin" composed of anti-matter because that presupposes the idea of an alternate universe made purely of anti-matter doesn't it?
I think the most important message is...I would so totally do myself! ![]()
and Ben, sorry for going all geeky in your thread :|

i translated it wrong
i meant the string theory
A string is 100 billion times smaller than an atom, when a string moves it vibrates and that vibration responds to a particle, you should see your own body as a symphony of vibrating strings, but when strings move they force the space around it to curl up,to bend exactly as Einstein has predicted, one string that vibrates could be a quark another string could be an elektron but yet another string that vibrates could be light or a foton, but if you look at clouds, mountains you don't see symmetry at all but when you get closer to the big bang you can see a beautiful symmetry,so the string theory thinks that at the beginning of the big bang there was perfect symmetry,i hope this clears it up
if not just say so
I'll give you one example to make it maybe even more clearly when someone walks on a rope he can only con backwards and forward but when a flea walks on the rope it can also can go left and right, that's where the 13 dimenions come from
Still i wonder what was before t=0 ![]()
Oh you mean the A end and the B end,i think that's Einstein's
but it thaught it was like this take a piece of paper write on the one end A and on the other end B when you want to go from A to B in a straight line it's a pretty long distance, but when you bend your paper the distance becomes much smaller,so when you bend time and space the distance towards somewhere becomes much smaller, like i said time travel through black holes seems impossible but time travel through wormholes seem much more realistic
This is how the earth gravity works to earth bends time and space
And this is a wormhole wich is like the explanation of the A and B end
You should all matter has and identical anti-matter part
Yeah sorry Ben of being geeky here

A time machine would be an Einstein-Rosenberg bridge that connects two points in space, one of which is moving at a speed which approaches the speed of light.

ok I think I kind of understand it now ![]()
McTaggert's conception of the time was actually more about the nature of time itself (or maybe he only supported one side of the debate
) Anyway, basically the theory says that time is actually a dimension that exists and is beyond an instrument used for the convenience of man (some philosophers claim time only exists by the movement of particles but that's another kettle of fish). One series views time as an absolute such that each frame of time exists separately in space to each other and I think you can extrapolate that to form a "tree diagram" model of alternate dimensions, kind of similar to your time travel theory. The other views time as relative and so you only have one world always existing but it doesn't "branch off" to form alternate universes. Actually, I don't quote me on that...I have no idea what I am talking about
but the key theme is relative vs absolute ![]()
and I don't deny the whole anti-matter and matter thing but I just wouldn't make the additional assertion that the respective matters are organised in the same way as the their counterparts in space if that makes any sense ![]()
you're too smart to be a DJ ![]()

This time in English
:lost:
A time machine would be an Einstein-Rosenberg bridge that connects two points in space, one of which is moving at a speed which approaches the speed of light.
But there you have a dilemma how are you going to get the same machine to the other point in space
And how are we going to approach the speed of light because the faster something goes the bigger the mass becomes of that object,so you would somehow be able to evade the laws of physics ![]()
