Globo columnist and reader Daniel Marcusso interviewed Brazilian model Evandro Soldati before the Ellus show at SPFW, and decided to share it with the readers of Made In Brazil.

How did you start modeling?

My mother signed me up for a Ford contest in Minas Gerais four years ago. She always said I would be a great model, even though I did not think so.

You had never thought about modeling before that?

No. I was in school when my mother signed me up for the contest.

What were the most important jobs you booked so far?

The first one was the cover of L'Uomo Vogue in the end of 2004. Then I shot campaigns for Abercrombie, Valentino, Louis Vuitton, and Iceberg, as well as editorial for i-D, Arena, The cover of GQ Style, American GQ. I have worked with Bruce Weber and Steven Klein, as well as modeled for Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, DSquared2, etc.

What is the best thing about modeling?

You get to travel the world, and it is always free. You get to know different places, and I have learned English and a bit of Italian as well.

Where do you live?

Right now I am living in downtown New York with a friend who is also a model. At the end of the year I am moving in with my girlfriend, Yasmin Brunet.

How do you stay in shape?

I jog often when I am in New York, and I also play capoeira. I need to exercise to stay fit. I don't like to lift, so usually I only do abs and hit the treadmill. Sometimes I also need to watch what I eat.

What was your last job?

I shot the summer campaign for Ellus. I spent a weekend with (model) Leticia Birkheuer in an island in Parati for the shoot. The campaign is going to get a lot of attention because the pictures are very sexy. In some of them Leticia is naked on top of me. My girlfriend was very jealous.
