Myself, in thinking that RAP rhymes with CRAP

The impression I have is that Tommy W. attempted to create an iconoclastic/quirky character in ways that only he understood. It was a weird combination of a german accent plus other inspirations, ripped off from Brando, Walken, and Dean.
It backfired and the critics interpreted it as horrible acting.
