Sex sells, there's no denying that, but that doesn't mean the song was a work of literary genius. The song never received universal praise, it was controversial and so people took notice. Because people took notice he was booked for shows and was talked about, which can to some be construed as popular, it's not. Bad press is bad press, but it sells records. I truly am sorry that you can't see that, but if you feel that the song was a step forward, or even positive then I really don't know what to say to you.

No, Marvin Gaye has long left us unfortunately.  But, his kids did sue Sony actually, alleging that "blurred lines" sounded a lot like “you gotta give it up.”  There was some sort of settlement that satisfied Gaye’s family and allowed Sony/Thicke to keep the profits and accolades from such a mega-hit.

You must mean the estate of Marvin Gaye because Marvin Gaye has been dead for nearly 30 years.

I have to disagree on this one.  You sound as if you want to punish her for taking it off, yet countless women have used nudity to get that initial batch of attention.  See Uma Thurman (early acting career) as a prime example.  Had SI given her the same diligence that they gave Lily Aldridge (one of my absolute personal favorites), they would have a potential star on their hands.  

All Emily has to do is win the ROTY or come close to it and IMO, she will have her own SI cover within the next 2-3 years.

Would really love to have Kate Bock's, if you have it. Thanks!

discussion of emily r's face  reminds me of a supercar article i read sometime back.  like a supercar that has a very unconventional/exotic look that doesn't look like any other car.  ends up being very polarizing and people either really like or dislike the look right away, no middle ground.

One video, several shoots. She's known for nudity, not for anything else. Nudity and Blurred Lines, which was. Oh right nude.

Emily R looks bad. Awful hair color and styling. It looks dirty and messy and not in a good way.

Just been catching up.  Well, the Emrata discussion has gone in some fun directions.  I respect y'all's opinions and on other threads have joined in a lot more about various models on which we sometimes agree and sometimes disagree.  I go hot and cold with Emily R.  There are moments when her lips distract me; there are others when I think she's got a great face.  There are moments when that figure BLOWS MY MIND  .  There are others when I wonder what the photographer, stylist, and model were thinking  .  I've used the term fetishy with her before, as I think there are times when her shoots can seem more peep show oriented than anything else.  And the last four pages or so of the thread prove that even on the same shoot, she can hit different viewers as hot or as uncomfortable at the same time.  What that means is she'll have fans and she'll have detractors, and what that means for her is MORE JOBS.  The more we talk about her, the more work she'll get.  Plain and simple.  

If that is the measure of what will get models a job, can we agree to stop talking about Chrissy?
