do you guys think this is wrong?

well i was just wondering, as everyone knows (well maybe not) but i am an old fart at 18 years of age, soon to be 19. and aslo a legal adult.

i am currently dating a girl that is 15 she turns 16 in like 2 months. i know about that legal age of consent thing, and no we have not had sex. and i know theres no law reguarding actual dating ages but there are loop holes to my knowledge.

but anyways i introduced her to the family not to long ago and my family flipped out. they were all saying she was too young and i would end up in jail and all that nonsense. it's weird im the guy and im actually being told not to go out with the girl.....

but you know i just wanted to see everyone's opinion on this subject, and if anyone knows anything about age dating limits let me know.

if you love each other there should be no law that stops you two from being with...

I have no idea what the american Law is about that but i know that in France you "sexually come of age" when you turn 15 so i think you can date someone who's come of age and even have sex with them... the only thing is that i think the parents of your under-age girlfriend can bring an action against you and make you stop seeing her...

About the pedophile thing i don't think you can compare a 19yo guy dating a 16yo girl with a 50yo man rapping teenage girls... I mean i think the word is a bit too strong for the situation...

Now in regard of ethics, there's just a three year difference so i don't think it's wrong as long as she's mature and knows what she's doing...

I always thought 15 was too young, even for France. girls just aren't ready at that age.

you know, it wouldn't be stat. rape if the parents approved of it, which I also think is strange.

and as you allude, the day before you turn 18 it's fine, but the day after it's illegal, even if she's 2 days younger than you. also strange.

plenty of kids in my high school dated younger girls. seniors have to be able to date non-seniors, so I don't see the problem with just dating. but I know when I was 18, I was horny 24/7 and would have had a problem going out with someone I couldn't sleep with for a couple years

i say its wrong in the eyes of the Law & that just find someone of youre age....but if you really like her then stay with her i see no problem with that...except if you just like young ppl then its wrong <_< but i dont think thats youre intent so..no problem here

She is just too young, she still has a lot to learn, and I don't know how you can stand to hear about school drama and gossip all day. Not to mention her body isn't done developing yet. AND girls your age are just hotter, more mature, and they can make better decisions about life and sex. No offense, because I don't know you as a person or in any way, but I know you can find a girl your age.. I have known dudes that were 21 and were dating 17 year olds...and that is fucked up. I think it's just desperation.. Why not get a girl that can go out and drink in bars with you, rather than a girl that gets you to buy her alcohol illegally for her and her friends... I just don't think dating young is a good decision, because young girls just don't know what is right, or what they want...so good luck.

lazy, your argument works both ways. in that case, then he shouldn't bother going out with someone older either, because he'll be too young and immature for them.

well put sir. I'm not sure about dating older though... one your 18, i figure your adult enough... I have met some pretty immature kids in my day, but most of them are under 18. I wont date anyone my age, or younger... Plus older women like me more anyways. I feel like im 30 in a 20 yearolds body... But once your adult, your adult. 16 is not even close... They can't even drive... Or smoke cigs, or do anything... That would just piss me off having to buy everyhting, adn drive everywhere...and then not that I would care what other people think, but everyone would give me shit for her being young... Not like this is our decision though. I just can't stand kids. They think they know everything...lololol. Damn my parents were right!

so how do you think that all sounds to someone like me, who's a generation older than you? basically everyone younger than you yourself is going to be 'dumb' in a way, and less mature for the most part. I tend to go out with women a couple years older than me, but when I was 18, what 25-year-old woman wouldn't think what you just said about me?

my point is just that people do date younger and older, and they have their reasons. if you've got hard rules about it, especially if you're thinking a certain way that's going to change in a few years, then you're missing out. it would be like getting a tattoo your favorite pop band when you're 15, when 9 times out of 10, you won't like them anymore a few years later

18-3-402. Sexual assault. (1) Any actor who knowingly inflicts sexual intrusion or sexual penetration on

a victim commits sexual assault if;

(e) At the time of the commission of the act, the victim is at least fifteen years of age but less than

seventeen years of age and the actor is at least ten years older than the victim and is not the spouse of the

victim

So, the "victim" ie, your girlfriend, is between 15-17. But, you are not at least 10 years older than her. Therefore, sexual activity between you two seems legal enough. But since being convicted of statuatory rape in the US results in the offender being placed on the Sex Offender List, it would be wise to consult with an attorney.

Legally, you seem to be in the clear - anyone saying otherwise should either 1) Be a lawyer or familiar with the law or 2) Shut up.

I'm not saying shut up, just saying: think about it. most decisions in life aren't black and white, so there's probably another side to any issue
