The prequels gave the impression that Lucas was more of businessman then, and less the businessman/artist he was before. This lead to the flaws in direction and creative excesses- I think he was burned out of good ideas, which typically happens.
Disney, like Pixar, knows how to commercialize things and change content - is that what you're worried about? The greater power of Star wars was in its endless merchandising and spin offs...
I think what is not promising about Blade Runner is the return of Harrison Ford. He did an Indy re-boot and was completely out of touch with the old character, and too old. Ridley scott is not directing. So so far the next Blade Runner is an unknown factor.
Still I liked the prequels, specially the last one. But I guess I didn't have much issues concerning the first one (the one everybody hates) because I was a kid when I watched it. 10 years old maybe?
And it's the content changes and creative influence of Disney what concerned me. But now I don't think I should worry about it. The merchandising thing is a given and it's what made Star Wars what it is since the beginning, so it's not a problem.

Ahem, so we are cheering for the Clippers from now on right? ![]()

Why would that be?? ![]()

The thing that always bothered me about Star Wars is how the "poor" rebels have the superior equipment (X wings) while the wealthy Empire has low cost, mass produced Tie fighters and masses of low quality soldiers. ![]()
I saw the first two movies, didn't like either- and didn't bother watching the third...I think liking the prequels had much to do with how much one is into the Star Wars world. It's a bit like Lord of the Rings, in which an outsider has difficulty getting 100% of the nuances unless they read the books, the comics, etc.. What turned me off the most was the cast, the extreme use of CGI and how the stormtroopers were replaced with skinny robots. The prequels were really not up to the elegance of the original Star Wars universe.

Maybe the empire was just cheap?
But yes, specially their low quality soldiers is a thing that can bother considering they should be such a force ![]()
Probably how much one is into the original trilogy has a lot to do with it. And I guess the same happens with The Lord of the Rings books vs movies.
But I really think the 3rd prequel was really good.

Do you like Jim Carrey? Fan of his movies? Well these days he's kinda a has been but in the 90's were you a fan? I believe you are a Dumb and Dumber fan, I remember talking to you about that film. ![]()

Not really a fan, but I remember I liked The Mask back then. What other movies he had? I remember Ace Ventura, but I never saw that one. Oh and I liked Dumb and Dumber too ![]()

^ yeah that's pretty much all his popular films. I think my fav film of his is "The Truman Show"
Have you seen that one? I thought the concept was pretty neat and original.
His acting wasn't over the top in this one, which I liked. ![]()

I've never seen that one, though I've heard some great comments about it's concept sounds interesting too. I think a teacher asked us to see that movie on high school, but I never did ![]()
I want to see it though.

Yes I totally recommend it!!!!
I think you'll enjoy it. ![]()
So the Hawks were leading the Nets, but now it's all tied up in the 4th quarter
Edit, just as I wote that... Kyle Korver scored a 3.
I'm rooting for Nets by the way now. ![]()

But the Nets won!
So did the Bucks. Surprising day ![]()
This was the first time I saw the Buck and they're a great team! Solid defense.

Why would that be??
I think you know the answer to that ![]()

^ No, I don't get it ![]()

Yeah, maybe i'll give prequel III a shot. I had heard that it was better. What stood out for me with both franchises is how abruptly they started off- generally there is an introduction period that would serve to allow a fresh viewer to understand the world that they are being presented with. Instead, they skimmed that entirely.
I always noticed that the Tie fighters go down with one hit, while the X wings have shields and other gadgets....
The "Empire's" military seems to be a spoof of the Soviet army.

Jim Carrey had funny sketches in "In Living color". My favorite film of his is still "The Mask". His shick however, got worn and he started becoming a 'serious' actor with "Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind".

^ Which I haven't watched either.

Yes, give it a shot. I liked it quite a lot on it's time and it's by all means better than the 2 others. And while it's true both franchises started kind of abruptly I think it's almost a common thing too. Not many of these fantasy or sci-fi oriented franchises give a big introduction period.
I'm thinking about Matrix or Game of Thrones for example.

The wonderful air we're breathing here...
I guess my bicycle ride this morning wasn't as healthy as it should have been.

Surprising stuff, especially since most match ups had 2-0 leads and it was looking like there would be tons of sweeps. So seeing a 8th seed tied with the first is something I wasn't expecting at all.
We were almost going to face the Bucks, so I'm glad the Bucks are putting up a fight so I feel less bad about the Raptors not getting to play them ![]()
Are you watching the Spurs/ Clippers game now? I really shouldn't be because I start work at 6:30 am tommorrow ![]()

Smoggy looking yes, but what a view! ![]()
