They are getting in the way, but I recorded the most demanding of the vocals today all the same

have you thought of investing in items to cool your computer? Heat sink, extra fans etc. Another way to do so (with desktop, only), is to open the lid and use a small but intense fan to suck hot air in and blow it out. (user beware at this advice- I've been doing it for years but do it on your own peril!).

I work on a laptop (a macbook) so no, I haven't considered it and I don't think it's possible on a computer like this one.
I guess you do this on a desktop PC?
Yes. Desktop PCs are easier to cool and thus last much longer, of course. There may be an application for cooling a laptop- it wouldn't surprise me if it's available.
JY: I put up 10!
^ Doing a quick search there's some apps that give better control over the computer's cooling system. However it's not a feature I'm really in need of right now. Overheating hasn't been an issue so far.
