Not necessarily. It would have to be appreciated in a similar way by the next generation for that. And when Pop music becomes no more than a product, each wave just replaces the previous one which sorts of disappear and becomes forgotten. Except for those who lived through a given wave and keep the nostalgic feeling for it.
I'm thinking of boy bands like The Backstreet Boys for example which are pretty much forgotten, except for those who liked them back in the day and may have a nostalgic feeling towards them. Or going back, same thing with New Kids on The Block, and I don't see anybody claiming them to be a real classic or anything.
They (and this is a merit of those who handled the marketing part, not the people singing) may have revolutionized the market in a certain way, but the music itself... well, not so much.
But again, time will tell. There's no way to make real good predictions on this and I may very well be wrong.

Time will tell indeed because the way music is distributed with technology and how tech plays a HUGE role in producing music now just leaves me wondering how exactly today's music will hold onto people decades down the road. I guess technology doesn't benefit everything
Imagine if the great composer of the past had auto tune and other tools at their disposal? ![]()

New show I found and damn it's good! Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger together, you can't go wrong!
The music scene in 1970s New York is still awash in sex and drugs, but rock 'n' roll is giving way to an era of punk, disco and hip-hop. Desperately trying to navigate the changing landscape is American Century Records founder and president Richie Finestra, whose passion for music and discovering talent has gone by the wayside. With American Century on the verge of being sold, a life-altering event rekindles Finestra's professional fire, but it may leave his personal life in ruins. Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Terence Winter are among the creators of the hourlong drama series, which stars Bobby Cannavale (HBO's "Boardwalk Empire") as Finestra.
That's rock N roll! It's fast, it's dirty, it smashes you over the head! TRUTH

Super-mainstream-Pop probably won't hold onto people in the long run. I think most of it will be rapidly forgotten. As it has happened many times with many music that has been trending at a given time. But that's not the only music being made today, and there is A LOT of great artists that just aren't as omnipresent as those in the media but in the long run may become more relevant and may transcend more.
I mean, one of the biggest bands ever and still immensely influential as is Led Zeppelin didn't release any singles in the UK for example. The music press hated them and gave them awful reviews for their albums. Black Sabbath had even worse reviews, specially at the beginning of their career. I think neither of those bands ever won a Grammy. And you see how big they still are.

And that is not that hard to imagine. Search for Contemporary Music, or Academic Music of the XX Century and listen yourself how those tools and those before them are put to use by composers. I posted some interesting stuff on the Classical Music thread.
Look for composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen or Steve Reich and you'll see.

I loved how he dedicated time to the word "weón" (or "huevón" more correctly written) and it's variations
Yeah... we have a very particular way of speaking the Spanish language
And you have to love our numeration system for our regions
But a couple of things: I wouldn't be so sure about so much of the population being "white". In terms of the skin color, sure (And even then not so much). But the truth is most people here are mestizos... Pretty much we are all mixed here.
And there has been an important influx of European immigration, besides the Spanish conquerors. Though is limited to a certain area: Los Lagos in the south had a really important German immigration during the second half of the XIX Century. I am of that German descent. In terms of the whole country it doesn't represent a big number though.
Also, though we've had our fair share of coup d'états, we are actually one of the most politically stable countries in the region. Which in Latin America is not saying that much anyway...
And when the Mapuche flag appears with an arrow pointing to Chile, that arrow should be pointing more towards north.

Chile, Pretty, it's Chile. Don't go to the wrong side of the Andes
Thank you so much! I hope this will be of great help. Before my songs were only on small online radios and on a little and very local FM one. This is a big jump forward, even if only one or two songs are programmed. This station is one of the best knowns and it has been THE Rock station for years,

Thank you! Yes, she takes amazing pictures

It's close enough
, it's like Europeans getting Canadian's and American's mixed up.... however American's tend to rage about being lumped in with Canadians, so I'm sorry.
If you forget about us peons I will fly my ass down to Chile and kill you dead...

That's better
I won't , Pretty. I promise
