Serena has been incredibly thinly-written all year. The intricacies of her character – It Girl/Good Girl, Old Serena/New Serena, big sister to Eric/little sister to Blair - are gone, and in many of the S5 episodes you could sum up Serena’s story in one sentence (“get Charlie to New York”/ “be sad about Dan”). Reviving Serena’s love for Dan meant she gave up her movie career to protect him, her column became all about him, she re-examined her past and concluded that he was the love of her life – only for those feelings to count for very little in the end. (Does anything matter any more beyond Blair’s happiness?

Sometimes it’s hard to remember that the show was ever about anything more than that). It seems that Serena doesn’t matter any more – to Blair, to Dan, or to the show. And there is very little fan outcry, none of the fury we saw from DB fans when Blair chose Chuck, or from CB fans when Claire chose Dylan. So I guess the next question has to be – should Serena matter?

Appropriate for a movie called Savages, I would say. I'm tempted to go see Safe House again tonight since it's the only R-rated flick from Universal out now and see if the trailer is attached, but they always seem to turn up on line first.

Don't be ashamed, I bet it will be good for 80's fashions, at the very least, and the show itself might actually be good. You never know with these things... I just don't think it's a prestige project that Blake, Elisabeth Olsen, etc. wanted a part in as the producers would like us to believe.

Regarding the lack of outcry from Serena fans for what has been done to the character, I think expectations for the show are so low that a lot of her fans gave up, tuned out and just hope for better things for her outside the show. That would help explain the dive in the ratings....

It's great to see that first impressions of blake in savages are so good . We need this film opens up new perspectives FOR BLAKE.

Makes total sense re; ratings. The ratings have taken a nose dive since S4. Of course the shippers like to attribute it to the opposing group, Blake who?

I love the HICK poster, Chloe Grace & Blake seem to be really good friends! But also, I kind of love that Blake and Ryan are spending all their time together. Sure, we don't get many picks of them, but I think that they have a real love. Even more so than Blake & Penn/Ryan & Scarlett. I would pretty much dig it if they got married in the future. (not easy for me to admit because Reynolds is my fantasy hubby)

I am so excited for Savages! Uma & Oliver with a side of Blake = Amazing. But I also hope Blake does something along the lines of a romantic comedy/drama. Apart from GG she could run the risk of getting typecast as a on-screen druggie (The Town, Private Lives, Savages).

She should go to auditions when she is not working on GG, I agree. But just because we hear of her time spent with Ryan doesn't mean that is all she does with her free time. For all we know, when someone tweets that they saw them eating at a restaurant, it could be that she's going from there to a meeting or was from one. There is no way random people will know that because those kinds of meetings are private. She works, she's had projects so we know she is very interested in working but we won't know when she is in the process until it is set in set
