Yeah, we had an ant problem at my parents' house a few months ago. We got ant bait and now they are pretty much gone 
They weren't regular ants, but the ones with the wings you get once a year.
Apparently, those create new nests. I siliconed the hole they were coming from shut. And I sweeped the rest of them out of my garage.
