I'm happy to report that I'm doing better and anticipate that I will restart the competition (from the beginning, with an improved format) sometime in early September. 
Should I keep the same thread, and maybe just edit the previous posts - especially the first one?

My spin:
Going in, there were really only two matches that I figured would be close (Hoopes/Mazza and Seymour/Aldridge). But, in each of them, we had ourselves a rather convincing winner, which makes their wins quite impressive considering their competition. I thought it was interesting to see the first two 2014 rookies in the tournament, and the fact that Lily Aldridge, one of the cover girls, lost her first match while fellow rookie Samantha Hoopes won hers. One can argue that Lily’s competition was stiffer, so I wonder how Samantha and Lily would fare if matched up directly. Alas, they’re in different groups this year, so that is unlikely to happen. Wait ’til next year, as the saying often goes.
