I can't believe I haven't posted the most blatant rip off of them all!
This is a song by Jake Holmes called Dazed And Confused.
He opened some shows for The Yardbirds during the time Jimmy Page was part of the band, and played this song. Soon after The Yardbirds started playing the song as well, I guess as a cover.
Soon after The Yardbirds were done and Jimmy Page formed The New Yardbirds which shortly after would change their name to Led Zeppelin and then on their debut album is the very well known Dazed and Confused CREDITED TO JIMMY PAGE
(I couldn't find the studio version on youtube probably because of fucking Warner Chappell, but this is a very nice live version)
I actually think Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused is a MUCH better song than Jake Holmes' original but still is one of the ugliest rip offs considering Page took full credit for the song...
Ritchie Blackmore actually acknowledged taking "inspiration" from this song
