New Features for BZ

Quick question to everyone, im working on importing the images to BZ but I am starting to think the thumbnail size (150x) is way too small. Should we make them bigger? 250? 300?

Ok I started running it now. 

Ok so as you probably noticed it didnt really do anything last time. It failed on some edge case and crashed. I have fixed the code an am running it again. So far so good. There are still some bugs in the code that require me to redownload some posts to reprocess but most are getting processed. There are also some image hostesters that didnt work so I have to figure out a work around.

Anyways you will see stuff like this while its putting in the images, once i clear the cache the "old" 3rd party websites will go and the "Attached Images" will become embedded in the original spot of the old ones. So for users it should be transparent except they see a lot more images directly on BZ.

I have 30 threads running, its completed about 20k posts of 750k to process. Once complete I will rerun the process to retry the broken ones that didnt work on the first go around.

Also a heads up, I am planning on moving to IPB 4.1 soon (ideally once I finish the broken ones) which as always will make some people angry but overall I think its a better product.

Great! Just curious is there any way we can change the skin color instead of the blue? I don't hate it terribly or anything or mind too much just was curious if there were other options.    

Also on the new forum looks like the avatar is a small circle, is there anyway we can keep the same size/square avatars as now?

Yes there is a visual skin editor where we could change the skin color. Did you have a particular color in mind, and you want the default to be changed? We can have different color skins for different people. I know we use to have a black color a long time ago.

Yeah having the avatars and siggis being the same size or bigger would be nice, I know I and alot of other people really would not prefer a smaller avatar.

OK so the first round completed 500,000 posts and some 2.5million images that were converted to attachments. 

I had 250k posts error out, I will be reviewing those next. Then I need to reprocess all the posts as a bunch of websites didnt download anything and im not 100% sure why. But we are making some progress

The forum seems to be having hiccups atm. It's taking 10-20 seconds to load threads on and off. I'm sitting at 102mb down & 20mb up and I'm getting pages like this.
 



EDIT:  It took me about a minute to edit this page.

As soon as I uploaded the last post ... this is what my page turned into.

Every couple of minutes I'm getting "The server is busy" warning.

I'll let you know if anything chances and the forum starts to act normal for me.

Okay so it looks like the hiccups are cover for now. So far everything is running better then perfect.

Thats wierd, I checked this morning when I woke up and everything seemed fine. I checked again just now and the Load on the machine is pretty low, for reference it was between 70-90 when I was processing the posts. 

top - 12:11:50 up 149 days, 21:24,  4 users,  load average: 3.74, 2.78, 2.41

So I need your guys opinion. So now that we have some images on BZ (still working seperatly on getting more). I need to make a landing page for when you click the images you see another page with the full size image to do the next steps of a recommendation engine type thing. 

Do any of you know of a good layout? I kind of was thinking about something like this

Where the image is in the left middle and then on the right I was thinking about 2 things:

1) Where the Top Posts is it would be a Forwards and Backwards to the next images in the post if any (meaning you dont have to go back to the post to click the next image). 

2) Where The Latest is we could do a "You may also like" type suggestion, that if you are looking at Candice you may also want to check out Lily or something or we could also do a link to hot topics.

3) Where the Editor info is we can just put the post itself or maybe a bio of the model or something like that. 

Let me know if you have seen anything better or have any suggestion as to what should be placed where. Thanks
