@Stromboli1  I'll start to trust that people from Hollywood are sincerely caring for people, when they help the poor in their own city  (like Compton, Watts, etc.). They live in rich suburbs close to the poorest places of the US, where they have rat infestations and possible cases of plague.

The rats in LA streets are scary, they should get rid of them... including this one

They're up in their ivory towers saying this and that, but voting against things that hurt the people they claim they want to help. Usually it's take of your community, then state, and the country.

Guess who has the means to leave if shit hits the fan.

They talk a big game, but are full of shit.

With Patton, it’s mainly a feeling I get. Some things are the way he talks about them in interviews.

I don't have favorite materials from the others. Sometimes it’s the whole routine or album.

Though Cosby’s take on childbirth is always funny.

Pryor, you should put the era’s culture in mind when listening.

yea, Pryor's material is related to the social and political upheaval of the times.  It's very often that there are great performers but their subject of choosing sours their comedy for me.  TBH I am over with Chappelle as a comedian because he spends far too much time making black vs white race jokes.

I just finished all of Patton, Melaney, and Segura's material.   Patton's material shows a deep interest in film, fantasy, modern literature and sci-fi, and he uses concepts from fiction to make his comedic storytelling really unique.  However, it seems like he kind of "softballs" it for the general audience.  He could go harder and even more esoteric.   Patton's albums are 5 stars until the second to most recent one (4.5 stars).  His latest special, done after his wife's death, is weak for patton- I'd give it 3 stars.  I am very impressed with John Melaney as well due to the high quality of his albums (first one: 4.5 stars, next three, 5 stars) and finely tuned, rehearsed performance.   His material is completely relatable to my age group (30s)/location and is a guide on how to write effective jokes and execute comedic storytelling.  Letterman called him the future of comedy at the Mark Twain awards.  I wonder if he'll manage to become the next Conan O' Brien.

Segura is great as well, his albums are consistently 4.5 stars.  I like his unique take of "living" in this strange, strange world.

I've been listening to Cosby's albums and will probably be done by tomorrow.  His material is a masterclass of comedic storytelling/family humor-  consistently 5 or 4.5 stars for me.

1) hence, my statement that Patton is an audio/visual/computer nerd-geek that hit it big. Like knows like!

2) I gave Patton a lot of slack for his material when his wife died. It’s understandable to not be top of your game for a while after that.

3) as you said, Cosby should be a masterclass on clean humor.

In "annhilation" (2017) what patton does in the show is 1. Trump 2. audience humor 3. death of his wife.

It seems like cosby cracks sometime in the late 60s/70s (where the rape allegations show up) in two of his albums.  He comes across as being a party guy/player and being married at that.  He doesn't openly admit it but there's something odd going on when he in-cooperates this into his routines at casinos where he gets a lot more adult in his humor.

In his career he starts with child humor and then transitions to young adult/adulthood humor, and then goes full "family guy" especially when the Fat Albert and Cosby show is airing.  I'm changing my ratings of his albums. i think he did his best work in the 1960s with a very strong 5 or 4.5 star consistency and then his later albums are more like a mixture of 3.5,  4 and 4.5 stars, with two 5 star performances  (Himself and forty-nine).

Brian Regan is supposed to be a current master of clean humor however I find his delivery so obnoxious that I stopped early.  Jim Gaffigan is also really annoying but is supposed to be great.

Albums I plan on tackling next:

Jim jefferies, Tosh, Bamford, Mike Birbigia, David Cross, Aziz, Louis CK, Tom Papa , Kinane

going to relisten to Mulenany, Segura, and Patton's albums afterawards.

Bill Burr seems to be a man's man comedian- like Adam Corolla during his "Man show" years and Joe rogan now.  There's a lot of short clips where Bill Burr gives a funny opinion on a huge number of esoteric topics.   I'm starting to notice that Bill Burr takes the most stereotypical "man" position on nearly everything and charges it up with angry ranting.   Kind of a moderate politically but more heavily leaning towards conservative/alt right, making him a rarity among top comedians who are mostly liberal.
