Is Nicola an ethnic German? She doesn't have a German surname, pretty sure her surname is Italian.

She's from Munich, as to where her family (or her father's side, in any case) came from, no idea.

I know her nationality is German, but she's definitely not full ethnic German.

Could be her ancestors were from somewhere else in Europe but then the spelling was changed to suit a different language. That can produce extremely rare surnames.
