2019 SI Swimsuit

This magazine literally came and went in the same day. Sad

I don't think it's going to get better anytime soon. They had some real good models (Barbara, Kelsey, Robin, Olivia, Haley for example) but the whole any body type is now an SI Swimsuit body isn't working for them. 

Well, SISE would never have the cultural impact in 2019 that it did in say 1985, but MJ definitely helped the decline along with her "activism through swimsuit issue".

My sense is, at least in terms of general popularity, relevance, and endurance in the news cycle: This was always going to happen, even if Bellazon had picked their dream model and photographer lineup.

The most generous read on MJ as an editor is that she understood this, and "activism through swimsuit issue" has been her attempt to cling to relevance. It was never a great idea or likely to work in the long-term, though it was probably one of the few options on the table. Honestly, they'd probably move more copies and do better ratings if they changed it to the Cosplay Issue, lol.

Also, Chris Stone is stepping down at SI. Not directly SISWIM, but he has had a hand in it for a while. He has been with the company since 92.
