the late 90s are the best years in my opinion i love both the dark photography in most european magazines from that era and how in japan it was the complete opposite very sweet and colorful. i'm especially obsessed with satoshi saikusa's work from 1998-2000 i don't think you can find it in google but if you search his name here i scanned some stuff in probably audrey tchekova and lida egorova's threads they're so beautiful
