Casillas: Just give us time
Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas has called for calm in the wake of the club's early exit from the Copa del Rey.
Real's embarrassing loss to minnows Alcorcon last week has renewed the pressure on coach Manuel Pellegrini, but the experienced Casillas has responded to critics insisting that it takes time to build a successful side.
During an interview with Japanese TV channel Wowow the Spanish international said "We need time, but that's hard to get here.
"People want us to play well already, but it takes time. We have changed the players, the president and the coach. We must be calm."
When asked about the influx of new signings at the club over the summer Casillas said he was delighted with the calibre of player brought into the squad, adding that he had played with the original Galacticos.
"To be able to see players like Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Kaka gives even more hope to the players who are trained here," he indicated.
"I've seen [Zinedine] Zidane, [David] Beckham and [Luis] Figo, and they did great things. Hopefully [the new stars] will do the same."
