Hey James

How is a "y" pronounced in Spanish? In the one game, a commentator pronounce the name 'Puyol' as 'Pu-ol', totally ignoring the Y and then pronounced it 'Pujol' with a soft 'j' Obviously he's an idiot, but it got me wondering how the y is pronounced.

and do you know Portugese? How is 'D' pronounced? :lost:

from what i know, the spanish y is pronouced like a "wet" i (so i'd say poo-yol) but i've heard some spanish ppl pronouce it "di" with a soft d ... like "yo soy "(= i am) pronounced "(d)io soy"... dunno if that's clear

about the portuguese D... i'm taking portuguese at uni and i don't think there should be a problem with the pronounciation if you're talking about the letter it's pronounced "deh" (like in french) but in a word it's just like in english

cool thanks! have you ever considered passing yourself off as a Spaniard?

I asked about the D in Portugese because the commentator was peronouncing it as a J, like Ronajinho [Ronaldinho] <_<

That sucks

I've already graduated They made us do it before exams. Odd but true I wish I was going to Europe That will have to wait another time. After my last exam I am going on a major shopping spree. I still have to look for a dress for the Valedictory dinner :|

Do u have any plans for the weekend?

for shopping, you gonna model it for us

and this weekend, well just same old maybe go out partying since i didn't go out on Halloween which is like the party of the year here in SD, so i gotta make up for it. Was gonna go to Vegas for thanksgiving (in a few weeks) but now it looks like im just gonna go up to LA and chill with some old friends with a few days so thats always fun.

So how many months you get off before uni starts?

Lucky u. No one has Halloween parties here <_< We're not big on Halloween here Which sucks coz I want to dress up. It's good to catch up with old friends. Hope u have fun. I wonder what LA is like. It looks pretty on tv

I think I get 3 or 4 months off

sounds about right although never heard of anyone say it like a 'di'

and Ed, trust tha Taben since he is a launguage major thingy and all

but it's your first language, of course I trust you more! (pssst...is it your first language?)

Anyway, I don't trust Ben as much. He talks every possible language to me on MSN. One minute he's replying in english, the next I'm hit with an essay in Spanish or swear words in Russian. You just never know with Ben
