I'm really getting into Beach House at the moment. Probably better known in the US but pretty much unheard of in the UK. For fans of Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear and Mazzy Star.

I bought Longwave's second album (The Strangest Things) "way back" in 2003. Everywhere You Turn and Pool Song were nice, can't remember much about the rest. Wake Me When Its Over was a real snoozer, though (fitting, given the name).

Yeah it's a great album, has some terrific tracks, pool song one of my faves also...i prefer it to Secrets Are Sinister, despite the majority going for that album. Then again it does have a little more depth to it i S'pose

...im surprised you know them. Your a first haha. They should be far more well known then they are imo

my favourite band is Joy Division, unfortunatly not much people known them in Argentina. And the ones who knows them, they dont really like it. They don't understand Ian's music. (RIP)

I can also add to the list:

PJ Harvey.

Patti Smith.

Sonic Youth

Pixies

But those are better known, for what i know.

The was a local band I saw a few tmes called Lennon. They were real good, but nothing ever came of them. Got one of their cd's, and the girl could really sing. Was a mix of Hard Rock and Grunge type of a sound

Civilized Tears. I've never seen them live but I talked with the singer-songwriter 2 years ago via Facebook. His biography is fabulous:

"Hi my name is Tim Bennett, I am the singer and main songwriter for Civilized Tears. This is my story so far: I have done every job conceivable in order to survive and feed my passion for music and lyrics. I've painted houses, acted in commercials, been photographed nude for worldwide publications, cleaned toilets, canvassed for political organizations, played in the New York subways, been a courier, been arrested for spying, been protected by the Mafia, been a waiter, a bartender, a cook and gardener, worked in clothes stores, sold paintings, and sold blood, but I've never sold my soul! I've had lunch with Mussolini's granddaughter, been stood up by Phil Spector, been abducted by an Italian Countess, been invited to marry into General Franco's family, been stranded on a desert island, survived two major earthquakes, been the first white man to meet the Sultan of Brunei's witch doctor and have driven through the streets of L.A. under police escort. I live on the emotional fringes of life and compose songs that write themselves out of the true experiences that I have lived. I find inspiration to write from my ongoing struggles to find clarity in a paradoxical world and believe music is the alchemist that can change pain and suffering into beauty and heal the scars that we hide within our souls."

Super nice bloke! He created a FB group against bullying.
