Man Utd's Ronaldo in Madrid Dubai contact

Real Madrid officials made contact with Manchester United wing ace Cristiano Ronaldo last week in Dubai.

The Portuguese was granted a holiday in the UAE by United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and ABC says Real officials bumped into Ronaldo and his agent, Jorge Mendes, at a luxury hotel.

A Real delegation was in Dubai to open a soccer school and reaffirmed the club's interest to Ronaldo about taking him to Madrid in the summer.

MADRID (AFP) - Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona are poised to slug it out in a bid to prize star winger Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United.

Despite Sir Alex Ferguson insisting that Ronaldo is going nowhere the Spanish sports daily Marca has suggested a price tag of 45 million euros might be enough to secure the services of the Portugal international.

Real and Barca have already locked horns for a United player with the 2002 battle for David Beckham with Real prevailing in that transfer skirmish.

On Wednesday, Ronaldo's agent Sergio Alves told The Sun newspaper that offers for next season might be looked into if they came from a big club like Real Madrid or Barcelona.

This prompted Ronaldo teammate Patrice Evra to suggest that any agent asking for a transfer request for Ronaldo would be well advised to approach Ferguson armed with "a bazooka".

"Sir Alex Ferguson would know exactly how to welcome him. Protective equipment would be needed before going into the manager's office," the Frenchman said.

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent has admitted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid but insists the winger is focused on extending his Old Trafford contract.

Ronaldo's outstanding form this campaign has prompted Manchester United to offer the winger fresh terms but a new deal has yet to be signed.

But Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes has moved to quash the speculation by insisting his client is eyeing a new deal at United.

"It's normal that half the world is asking after Cristiano because every game he is delivering exhibition performances," said Mendes.

"Manchester United have repeated their intention not to sell him, and I would do the same if I was a United director.

"It's no secret there is interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. For us, the matter does not exist and what we are negotiating is the renewal of his contract."

I saw him in vogue, hmm I don't think he's all that special in terms of looks but he is nice looking, I just don't like him like everyone else does.

Why is that ? I don't read interviews with him and I don't know why people don't like him. Any reasons?
