You didn't enjoy the Iliad? Reading it was one of the very few things that helped me through ancient Greek classes in HS.

His dog died? Didn't the Odyssey end with Odysseus slaughtering the suitors with the help of his son and two loyal goat herders, and then reclaiming his throne and wife? I don't really remember anything about a dog dying...

Saw a great play about Calypso and Odysseus not so long ago.

Yes but before the whole competition, when Odysseus first arrived home no one recognized him but his dog. It was a bittersweet moment b/c the dog was ecstatic to see him however moments later it died It was like the dog waited for him to come home before it was willing to die

You might be right about the dog, although I don't remember anything of it, it's been ages since I read the thing.

Odysseus is a stronger man then most, leaving a Godess behind for a mortal woman. Although, he did cheat on his wife, A LOT, on the way home.

Ehhh! He's Greek...go figure So yes, for a Greek man he was pretty strong---stronger than some of the gods
