I'm  super hyped. Every YouTubers I trust say that this game is a masterpiece.

yeah, literally jaw dropping.  A lot of quantity (big open world, extremely large amount of unique enemy types, hard difficulty) and also a lot of high quality/epic bosses.  That's been my experience with watching bits of the game so far.  I saw some of the late-game demigod bosses and they are insane!

Also the open world has some really excellent designs.

Given what I've heard on Horizon and Elden Ring (and given that I don't have much time these days), I'll buy Elden Ring (and keep Horizon for later - possibly much much later...)

I realized what I don't like about Horizon- their character art style is similar to God of War/Assasin's creed franchise.

It doesn't seem like GRRM did much for the game.  Like he did a few days of work, and then they used his name for marketing purposes..

It seems like mages are OP in Elden Ring?  Due to the open world, and the large boss arenas, the player can just kite the boss with pew pew pew and not resort to melee combat.

They might have to patch this.

I hear many people saying that the game isn't fully optimized on PC. Lots of folks are angry on Steam, saying that the game has many bugs on PC

I understand that many of the good reviews were made on the PS5 version...

So once again, we might have to wait for the patches.

Yes, I guess so, but I like AC's characters, so I don't mind. What really bothers me is what they seem to have done with Aloy's character...

I like the original Aloy outfit for Horizon a lot better.  It looks more like Pocohantus.  The Horizon 2 outfit looks too much like an Assassin's creed character.  They also made her older looking and less pretty. (although she is still pretty)

I was going to say that her voice is too deep for her character but then I checked the original game and it was the same voice actress!  I had forgotten.

have you played games in the Far Cry franchise?  The environments also remind me of the aps in that game, some of them might even be the same.

It's notable that no youtuber has beaten Malenia (the trailer valkyrie) boss yet.  A youtuber was reduced to posted a video where he "almost" beat Malenia.  Apparently she is a very hard boss.   And very few youtubers have finished Elden Ring.  There are multiple endings, only 1 of them has been uploaded.  And nobody has posted a full game playthrough.  Unusually the youtube channels are very fast with full game playthroughs and several are out by this time.

The game appears to be very long.  There are claims by reviewers that it is a 100 hour game.

Also notable is how the youtubers who have made the most progress in the game, and are posting boss videos, have been cheesing them with mages' pewpewpew rather than fighting them in a more interesting way.

The game is really majestic in its artwork and very creepy at times.  The environments and bosses have a unsettling/haunting feel.

That sucks.  The PS5 has a big shortage here in the US...literallly people are payin 800 dollars for them (300 dollars more than they should be).

I watched cowboy's review (very reliable youtube channel and a high skill souls player) and he gave the PS5 version a 10 out of 10, but the PC version a 9 out of 10 due to bugs/significant optimization issues.  Besides saying that it was the best FROMSOFT game, his youtube playthrough is 110+ parts long (85 hours) and still he hasn't done everything yet.

I've read that all platforms suffer from significant performance issue..not touching it until they're fixed.

He uploaded 11 out of 110+ videos so far, plus some guides.  Pretty much the best souls content creator next to Vaati imho.

He focuses on getting 100% on the FROMSOFT games that he plays and also makes a lot of guides.

Thanks. Given what I've read/seen, I'll wait for the release of the patch that corrects the bugs on PC. The stuttering and V sync problems seem to be the most annoying. That's what you really don't want on a game.

Texture pop-in is annoying too, but not as messed up as stuttering (which gets on people's nerves quite quickly)

That's messed up. Most PC players say the same.

I'll wait for the patch

I've been studying Elden Ring since launch and it is a really huge game, tons of interesting content, seemingly endless.

This youtuber is getting the NPC questlines done, one by one and uploading them:

https://www.youtube.com/user/UnitedWalkthroughsHD/videos

I have a skeletal knowledge about the world and story now, this game is definitely filled with secrets from a lore perspective.  So the player gets hints, clues, and little pieces of information.  This information is often confusing and the sense of mystery tends to increase, rather than decrease. The 100-hour length of the game makes it additionally hard.

The story is really strange and rather interesting.

We definitely need a lore-master like Vaati or someone else to collect all this information, organize it, and post them in video form so all of us save a lot of time...
