Finally Confirmed: Kate Middleton And Prince William Are Expecting

We really saw this coming, but now it's finally official! Kate Middleton and Prince William are expecting a royal baby! The announcement was made yesterday after the duchess was rushed to the hospital after having difficulties with morning sickness. Kate is not even 12 weeks pregnant yet, but the her hospital visit forced the palace to make the announcement earlier than expected - not even the queen knew it before!

"The duchess was admitted this afternoon to King Edward VII hospital in central London with hyperemesis gravidarum. As the pregnancy is in its very early stages, Her royal highness is expected to stay in hospital for several days and will require a period of rest thereafter", they said in a statement. This baby will be the third in line to the throne, and will eventually become the king or queen of England. Isn't this just too exciting?! (guardian)

The Duchess of Cambridge's first official portrait has been unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery. The painting was created by artist Paul Emsley, the 2007 winner of the Gallery's BP Portrait Award competition, and was chosen by NPG director Sandy Nairne.
