There are 2 systems: 1/4 and 1/3. The 1/3 one is like more intense, that's why pupils skip the 4th grade.

There are different schools. There are schools that have 1-11 grades in it, but there are others like the one I studied at. There are only 1-3 grades there, it's an elementary school. So then, I had to go to another one.

primary school (6 grades; 1-6th grade)

junior high school-gimnazjum (3 grades; 7-9th grade)

and then you go to a high school or to a "job school" or technikum (3 grades-very rarely 4 grades, but if they are 4, it has more to do with a kind of class you had chosen; 10-12th grade)

so 12 years in school but we have BOTH Saturday and Sunday free

As I understand it, u just learn more according to this 1/3, I mean u study things for the 3d grade and thing u would study in the 4th one.

We have elementary school (3 years or 4), secondary school school (5-11 grades), but u can leave when u finish the 9th grade and go to some college and then u enter any university where u study for 5 years (usually) or u can enter a technikum instead of uni. U may continue and spend few years at uni (around 3 years) for postgraduate course. Well, u may also simply finish school and start working and do not get any education...
