Of course, but Gordon would be pissed although Guy would love it.

@Stormbringer I just watched an interesting documentary on obesity and diabetes. They talked about the techniques that giant sugary food/drink corporations (like Coca) use to hide the harm that their products do, and, these techniques are very similar to what the tobacco industry did 50 years ago.

They also talked about Chile and how it was one of the first countries to push for food labelling and soda taxing.

Honestly, I think that the food corporations (who are a freaking oligopoly) have a very high responsability in the global obesity and diabetes epidemic. There's sugar everywhere.

I had some "processed" tuna tonight. Guess what they added... sugar. They have to add this shit everywhere.

Yes, pretty much all the processed packaged food that's sold here comes with heavy labelling. Such as "High in sugars"; "high in calories"; "high in saturated fats" and the likes. Same for sodas.

And from what I've seen it has been rather effective.

But also we have a big overweight and obesity problem here. Actually, depending on where you see the numbers, we're just as bad or even worse than Mexico and the USA.

Just saw the numbers... 74% of the adult population  ooh we're fucked...

So maybe it's not being that effective   Either that or without the labelling it would be even worse.

^  It takes time to get rid of such problem. Even if people completely stopped eating heavily processed food, they still "accumulated" the bad influence of the past years.

I'm sure it will "limit" the problem for older generations and pave the way for better behaviours in the new generations. There is very clear evidence that processed food (and particularly sugary food) is the main cause of obesity (far above all other factors).

Obesity is quite high in terms of risk factor (not very far from smoking) and also hyperglycemia (whose causes are often the same as obesisty's). Also, many other food related problems are dangerous:

- high sodium diet

- low fruit/vegetable diet

- low whole grain diets (most of the pasta and rice we eat are just processed grains)

^ @Stromboli1  Air pollution is also a main risk factor. That means dusts, NOx or sulfur who are all produced by... fossil fuel!

I've never tried to eat the broccoli stems, but they say you can cook them and make a soup out of them. I'm gonna try it, with the covid stuff going on, it's even more important to not wasted fresh products
