u are so lost

So is there a plan for when we are gonna discuss this making of a new skin? Because we are all on at different times.

The main thing that needs to be thought of is that it's compatible with everyone, unlike the previous attempt.

im thinking about making another topic in here, just for that discussion and we just post in there....she is in australia....i thought this way was easier instead of 50 million PMs between each other.

Makes it easier to communicate with her this way, except that she lives in AU, which makes it difficult.

Whatever is chosen maddog needs to be the one to implement it as the default, so that we don't have any problems.

I think it should be a wider one like this IPB default, with similar options and look that way people don't feel alienated when they change over. Of course they can always switch their own default to the IPB default if they are uncomfortable, but most people will just go with the flow. It will be the first thing people see when they arrive, and ease of use will keep more people from just browseing and then never coming back again. If it's difficult to navigate people won't like it of course.

yeah, one thing i said to her is it should be wide, then i thought about it a team effort, ill make her a mod so we all have a voice

my opinion woudl be keep the default and just play with the colors on it, that way we can have it dark (for the neo peoples) , have it brownish (for the ronin peeps) and have it default for me

that way we guarantee that everything will work appropriatly and there can still be fast replys and all that, it would just take a while to redo all the buttons but most of us have good skills with PS, so im sure neo and myself and others could convert buttons and colors without much of an issue, it would just be a question on deciding what colors match.

I agree with that, I like the setup of the default just fine, and it's just the bright blue color that turns me off. But I'm open to see what else looks good. Carsten does the other shades of blue skins with WFT, don't need him thinking we are copying him.

I'm used to the charcoal skin, things seem somewhat smaller in it, such as when adding attachments, the "Add into Post" buttons are smaller than in the IPB default, and it allows you not to have to scroll so far to click each one as you add it into post. Though the overall skin is basically the exact same size as the default. Buttons are different somewhat though.

Also the edit, options delete buttons on individual posts, are smaller which just makes it look smoother and not so gaughty.

Switch back and forth between those two skins if you're unsure what I'm talking about. This default just seems kinda chunky to me, but of course I rarely use it so my input is biased.

Just a couple things that I think this skin would look better with. But most people are used to the way this one looks. Not to mention people sigs and avs, meld much better with a darker skin than they do with a bright blue one, as just about everything goes with black. For example my sig clashes horribly with this skin, but with a dark skin it looks fine.

i dont think it's too bright at all, then again my comp screen is turned down as dark as i can get it hahaha...i can't use any of the black skins because after using them for a few minutes my eyes start to hurt, esp if i have to go to a normal white background website afterwards (yes, i would never have lasted on chilax is what i'm saying lol). all that being said, i'd love a really cool banner and a few more skin options with actual models in the banner.

This default is of course the most familiar for anyone who browses forums as it is the default for the majority of IPB based forums. Which makes it quite unoriginal.

Personally doesn't bother me as I don't usually use it, but some people might just think Blah! this looks like every other forum.

Really though if they care that much about what the forum looks like they should probably be visiting a forum about forums instead of here.

I think the other problems should be fixed before going and doing this though. I assume that the skin damage and connection difficulty problems are probably more at the forefront of the users thoughts, than what should be the forum default skin.

well, ill remove her mod status then....even though i'd rather have our own custom skin then any of the skins we have at the moment.

This is why we are discussing it so that we can find a middle ground. Maybe she can come up with a skin that all of us like, but we won't know until she creates it. But in order for her to even start I would think she would need some basic input as to what we want.

We know that not everyone likes this super bright skin (myself included), we know that not everyone likes the dark dark skins. So if we are to have a skin created, then we know it needs to be something in the middle obviously. So the super bright and dark skins selections are out already.

I think most people would agree that it needs to be set up either exactly or very similarly to the current setup, i.e, button placements and, width, etc. But how much can we really change and still keep it very similar? Might not be worth changing those things much at all.

Which basically just leaves the colors we can work with to make everyone happy. We want people in general to not be turned off by the theme, the second they hit the site. We don't need to get dramatic with the changes to make it look good and unique.

Do we plan on having a rotating banner at some point? Like one that we will change from time to time, or will there be something permanent?

I like the idea of having our own custom skin, to make the site interface somewhat unique, even if it is only a slight color change, I like the idea of someday having staff tags below our names or something. But it needs to be perfectly compatible, so we don't run into a crap load of trouble. Currently the site by default looks like 900 million other IPB forums out there, but this isn't necessarily a terrible thing.

i was telling her maybe three themes.....to satisfy everyone....to a general extent...like one with a white background, one with a black background and one something in between meaning grey...and she liked that idea....i said about banner, i said that it should be changable....we can include any model, actress and singer....we can have members vote for who they want in the banner....i pretty much talk about the cosmetic part of the skin....the main color and the banner....and after doing that i was like wait....this is a big change....whole staff has to agree on everything, which is why i said make her a mod...so she can talk with all of us...the only thing i said was the banner height should be like 200....to have more the play with if we add models and what not...she was thinking logowise, if we want a logo to represent Bellazon.

the only color i can think of i grey cuz its in the middle really....its not black and its not white.
