haha, it was a joke referring to America's beginnings...
I don't think it was a particularly good joke :| ![]()

your beginnings are fucked up :|

hahaha, indeed :morning:

oi new yorker, what's up? ![]()

hmm well it seems Pink isn't going to answerso I will...
yeah I find filing to be stressful and a bit difficult mostly because of the way things are worded. I don't own a home though, I'm only 22, and I made less than $3000 last year (combination of work + my deceased father's IRA), so for me personally, taxes aren't all that difficult. Took me about an hour. Not the case for everyone
Thanks for answering for me...hahaha...
I also don't like doing my taxes b/c I am bad w/ numbers ![]()

I hate doing my taxes because it makes you realize how little of your wages the state leaves you. ![]()
I pay 43% on my monthly wages and 52% :| on my bonuses. Paying more than half is just wrong... ![]()

You must make a lot of money then ![]()
(assuming your tax system is anything like ours of course
)

Not really. I make a decent wage, but not anything out of this world. If I compare it to the guys I graduated with, I'm somewhere in the middle of the pack.
Most people start out paying just under 40% on their monthly wages, from the moment you go above the minimum wage scale.
I don't even mind that 43%, I'm more pissed that I pay more than 50% taxes on any bonus I get. :yuckky:

Sounds like your govt. sucks :yuckky: Our top tax bracket is at 48% of the overall income ![]()

That's pretty sweet. I know that on regular income its capped at 52% over here, but they somehow don't count bonuses and extras as regular income.

That sucks ![]()
You earn Euros right?

Yes, yes I do. ![]()

damn
I'd love to be earning euros. ![]()
I wouldn't mind sterling either ![]()

Thinking about coming to Europe, then? ![]()
You can make boatloads of money in London, but life is very very expensive there. ![]()

I am
but I was planning to go to London or just outside and do something there... but nothing is planned yet. If all else fails I can at least mooch off Ben ![]()
Hey Nicole! Your thread has become a place where people have come to talk about their taxes :|

A second cousin of mine is working and living in London right now. She actually bought a home with her two roommates because it was cheaper than renting. :|
Off course, you'll also make disgusting amounts of money if you work in the right industry over there, so you should be able to survive. ![]()

You spelt 'off' instead of 'of' again ![]()
She bought a house there? How does that work? Did they split up the fees or does one person own the house and the friends pay a smaller rate than renting? I imagine there'd be some problems if a big fight came up and someone wanted to leave with their share of the investment
Maybe I could live there when I go to London! ![]()
I think you can make a lot as an accountant or something over there but I'm in the psychology field and I've heard that jobs for shrinks are hard to find
We'll see what happens I guess... I just really want to use it as a base for traveling Europe or something ![]()

Damn... You'd think my English would improve after a few years on here, but... nope
They all own one third of the house, apparently. Some sort of tontine. If one moves out, she just sells her part to who ever moves in. Apparently, it's not uncommon in London. ![]()

I wouldn't suggest the internet if you were looking for a place that would help you improve your English :trout:
wow
I think that's what my friend and his brother are planning to do though, but maybe it's more of a problem here than it is over there
Or maybe I just don't know enough about financial options with regards to property investment ![]()

Get in line. I've got dibs :morning:
Indeed...and I barely read any of it ![]()
