I finished the first 4 hrs of the Brothers Karamazov.

I admire the brilliance of the work but I really don't like the experience so far.  It is way too depressing and aggravating.

Avatar 2 is now the 4th highest grossing film of all time.  Adjusted for inflation though, it is lower on the list.

I'm settling into the Brothers Karamazov and find it more and more interesting.

I keep listening to Smoke + Mirrors by Imagine Dragons. This album is genius and honestly Imagine Dragons is possibly one of my favorite bands now

(which surprises me, because I thought I was one of this a**holes who think that most mainstream music has become shite since the 00s )

In any case, this music is wonderful.

I am anticipating my Geralt Ursine statue and also the release of Geralt Toussaint tourney statue in March 2023.

I am not a statue-collecting guy but with this subject matter I feel like a kid again.

JK Rowling is awesome

I love her, she is great. She tells what she thinks, doesn't get intimidated, she's feminine and strong at the same time (unlike 99% of the self-labelled strong wamen ).

I wanted to listen to this song once again, but, on youtube, a big chunk of the lyrics are censored.... (and not just the swearing)

Finished 1/3rd of Brothers Karamazov.  

It is a strange audio experience.  Interesting, complicated and brilliant but also a novel that I cannot telegraph.   The structure is very non-linear and I am confused about a great many things.

I'm getting old. I slept wrong a few nights ago now if I lay the wrong way I feel like I'm gonna die.

It felt like that when I read War and Peace... I had to read some pages twice or more to understand who did what, when, why?

Is it good?

Is smoke + mirrors the best album in the past 10 years?

I would describe it as a big work of philosophy disguised as entertaining prose.  So it's scene after scene of generally memorable & interesting character interactions- with philosophical depth- that don't follow a linear fashion.  I think it's probably one of those books that need to be read at least twice, with scenes  re-read several times and contemplated over a lot. 

This is typical of great films/tv shows and books, plays, etc. Brothers K is considered one of the great works of world literature and Dostoevsky's greatest novel.

So it is indeed a type of masterpiece. The non-linear manner reminds me of an open-world game, like Eden Ring / Witcher 3 where you discover fragments of what's going on but it's up the reader to piece things together into their own interpretation.

This is why when I wiki Brothers K. and also look at book reviews- pretty much every review is different.

do you like War and Peace?

It is a novel that I should do.

After doing 1/3rd of Brothers I realize that I need to do Crime & Punishment and The Idiot as well.
