Divisions got way worse during covid (and the vaccine/masks/lockdown debate). I believe those divisions were fuelled by politicians, media and a couple of megalomaniac billionaires (like Gates).

Elden Ring has great lore.
Malenia the Rot goddess is one of the best female characters of the Souls universe. Beautiful, goddess-like but also horrifying at the same time. This DLC is about her brother and she might return depending on what the developers have in mind.

There is a (literal) easter egg in the base game that could be the portal to the DLC. Like how in Ashes of Ariendal the player enters a Painting.
I'm thinking that the DLC is either after the base game or it's a prequel to it, like you go back in time or something.
