i have a Question about female circumcision.

Infibulation is the practice of surgical closure of the labia majora (outer lips of the vulva) by sewing them together to partially seal the vagina, leaving only a small hole for the passage of urine and menstrual blood.

Last night there was a documentary on TV about female genital cutting and they showed how it was done to two sisters in Somalia... It was horrible. The "cutter" (I don't know how the woman is called who did it) had a blade which wasn't even disinfected. And the mother of the girl pushed her down to the ground together with some other woman, some even sat on her chest so that the girl couldn't move and they forced her legs apart. She was given an injection (which if you ask me was done totally unprofessionaly and obviously didn't help much) and then that cutter woman started. The girl was crying so much and her screams were bloodcurdling, I can tell ya. Plus, these girls were undergoing Type 1 of female genital cutting, meaning it was the weakest form.

The film was called The day I will never forget. I recommend it for everyone. It was so informative, touching and just interesting.

i really am in shock.. if that's just the 1st stage = weakest stage.. it's still very brutal.. and some have said that they don't/can't have sex... then how do they reproduce?

So many girls die - not talking about what happens to the girls who survive....

i'm scared for them, but i want to know more. it's so cruel!

I've only been w/ men who are circumcised. I think if i found one who was not I'd be in a bit of a shock.

Have you at leat seen one uncircumscised?

Its no big deal especially once .. uumm.. the loose skin disappears.

In preference .. I can see how having a circumcised man could be cleaner. hygenically.. but if a man is very clean .. uncircumcised is pretty cool.

AND WOW .. SS.. a unique Belgium? That makes me curious.

I don't get it why 'circumcised' seems to be synonymous with 'clean' or 'hygienic' to so many of you guys. If one keeps his daily hygiene, then it doesn't really make a difference...

Its not that circumcised is better.. but there are lazy people and in this case.. it can mean sterilizing a woman from being able to have children if some of those bacterias are not kept clean. The odds of an uncircumcised man getting these bacterias are much higher than the man who doesn't have the extra skin to keep the bacterias trapped long enough to grow.

Its really no matter between the two as long as the man is not lazy.

I know what they look like, but never have witnessed one in the flesh yet In shock, I mean I would just be suprised (from only seeing circumcised) and undergo somethin new
