YES!

No Ozzy or Black Sabbath mentions yet? ![]()

Randy Rhoads was a guitar virtuoso.

^ Randy Rhoads was an incredible guitarist. He had great musical ideas that reflect is more classical formation. He brought so much to those first Ozzy albums.
But personally I've never consider Black Sabbath with Ozzy as Metal. They're the fathers and starters of the genre for sure, but those first albums from Black Sabbath to Never Say Die I consider them as Hard Rock. It's dense, it's dark, it's heavy but not Metal in my opinion; it's even Heavy Blues. Though many Metal bands can only wish to sound as heavy as Into The Void for example (that has to be one of the heaviest songs ever. And the slower it's played, the heavier it gets).
I consider them to be properly Metal from Heaven and Hell, with Dio onwards. And there's quite a big change in sound there.
Again, this is an opinion, but to me, proper Heavy Metal as we know it was born and defined with this album:
Sad Wings Of Destiny - Judas Priest (1976)
(Which in this link is in it's correct running order! Starting with Prelude)

^ Some good ole British Steel. This my favorite Judas Priest song.

I love that song! That whole album is awesome.
And 40 years ago today, Heavy Metal was born:

Two quintessential Metal albums that were released on the same day:
14 of April 1980
And

If there's a band where ALL of Heavy Metal clichés come together, that has to be Manowar
