Businesses evolve, don't kid yourself into thinking that what they used 20 years ago will still be their marketing campaign today. If that was the case then everything would stagnate, this is the fickle facebook generation and what gets big on the internet translates into bigger sales to the consumer..

You guys, i just realized that Lisalla Montenegro was NOT cast, even with the hype that some SI employees created over her she did not get the job. MJ & Darcie must have hated her if she didn't get a spot this year, from the first moment we thought she was a safe bet & dayuuummm she's not there, kind of lame since i really like her and think she would be great =/

SI did not boost Irina's career because she blew it. She not only got her cover because of her bf but because she was all over the internet in the months leading up to it. When she did her publicity tour for SI she acted like a friendly scientist(self-censored) and the general attitude became, "ok, I know what she is like now, nice knowing ya." Then poof she was gone.

Kate on the other hand has made the most out of her publicity by having a enthusiastic attitude and being likable. And let's not separate Kate's popularity from the fact that she is all around hotter than most of the other models. Kate is on the cover because she has big boobs, a pretty face, she is popular and she can probably perform on the talk show circuit better than most. Alyssa, Chrissy(in small doses),Genevieve(yes) and Anne V(I don't know, I just don't want to hear it) would probably be decent personalities but not much better than Kate, if at all.

No other model on the roster can really come close to being a better total package than Kate is right now. Since Beyonce SI has had a pretty good streak of models who have the big 4 qualities that I just mentioned(except for Irina who was popular at the time and MJ once said she was soo funny, I think she is scared of her) and they don't want to take a step back now.

Anne V had her chance to break, it didn't happen. Maybe in the modeling world she is a novelty but she looks like an average California girl to me and probably a lot of other American guys. I don't know I am not going into her thread.

And for the record, I don't think I was the first to point this out but I believe an executive picks the cover model not MJ.

Does Lisalla have fake breasts? Because I think that is frowned upon. She flirts with being what I call a B model, like Lisa Ramos who I believe Maiya mentioned earlier. Someone who is hot but does not come off as being, let's say elite, and sometimes SI will go for a lesser known model(like from South Africa) in order to get that elite quality. Is that clear enough for you? No? Good.

Edit: I like Lisalla though she should have been in the issue probably. I was just suggesting why SI might not have hired her.

The amount of two part pictures is annoying at best. I've had to put a lot of images together and it's very time consuming.

I hate 2 part pics. I don't get it. The gutter obviously distorts and ruins a lot of the pics. If they want a lengthwise shot I would gladly turn the magazine sideways and hold it close to my face.
