But she is never less than likable, at least from my perspective.

I feel like you read my mind with all of this.
Except I don't think Kate is particularly well spoken. She's fine but I wouldn't say she's extremely articulate. But with that said, I think she's miles better then last year in these interviews. She seems much more comfortable than I remember. Especially on the today show. She fit right in and didn't look nervous or out of place at all. And on letterman I thought she was vastly improved again. Not as much is going over her head and she's contributing more to the interview. I think in a year or two she could be fantastic.
Well I agree, kate is not the most articulate (not saying shes dumb or anything). But she comes across as a very kind person, always pretty happy, nice to other people. She seems like a sweetheart to be around
