I just looked through the casting calls and I don't think there's any contenders in this group so far.
Bjeinen and Barbara F. are higher profile than the rest but they're different than the accessible type more typical of SI. Barbara has the body but her face would be considered 'too ethnic'. Bjeinen is exotic. The other girls have faces that are much too young and most of them don't really have swimsuit bodies. Pretty girls, but still...
I am one of the few that don't like Nina A. at all 
not that this is The Best Indicator, but i still think it's a valid comparison: i put the 16 casting calls so far into google trends and by far the model who swamped them all was dayana mendoza. however, her popularity peaked years ago and is generally limited to venezuela.
of those whose popularity is still on the rise, emily ratajkowski is in the lead. other contenders include tahnee atkinson, angela martini, and to a lesser extent bregje heinen. most other girls weren't even a blip.
over and over again you all say the magazine isn't about looks, it's about making money, so if the casting directors were going based on popularity alone, the google trends results at least indicate how popular the girls are on the internet.

I didn't notice you meant Barbara F. and not Barbara Palvin. I liked Barbara Fialho's interview that she did with Monica Mitro but I agree with you that she doesn't really represent the typical SI girl. I feel that VS is way more interested in high fashion type of bodies than SI.

So far these Casting Calls still a fail to me, still only like Dayana & Violet
Lauren Mellor isn't horrible in motion (with the right lighting, makeup and styling.. shh), and she had a body very reminiscent of Kate Upton's which isn't necessary a bad thing, but the face is very hit or miss.

She's a big miss in the second video the first one I don't know, remember how awesome we thought Genevieve would be after seeing her SASI stuff? And the SI came out and most of us were like NO.
She does have a lovely body though.
i'm glad they're considering some of the same girls from SI south africa. lauren is not the worst, but but there are a few i'd put in line before her: xenia deli, lera koryts'ka, nicole meyer, even chiara moreira.
Am I the only 1 that wants Alyssa in the cover? I would be happy enough just to see Bregje, Xenia Deli & Violet Budd as Rookies
I wish Alyssa was more famous because then she would deserve the cover. I was thinking they might put Alyssa and Nina on the cover together and that's why they tried to promote them as buddies. But double cover girls is still unlikely. Nina is more famous so she is more likely to get it.
I feel SI never played to Alyssa's strength. She may be nice but she doesn't really look like the girl next door. She looks more like the girl in the apartment next door who laughs at your shyness when you see her and has sex really loud.
She does a good job but I wish her shoots were a bit more serious and moody. Like Stephanie here:

But I guess women are trying to turn the magazine into more of a swimsuit catalog and less of a......uh..... a celebration of women's bodies?
Curious, have you guys ever heard of Surfing Magazine? They do a swimsuit issue and its pretty good......alot of beautiful girls over there that would be great for SI!
