I'm still amazed about that cover. Such a simple idea, and yet so iconic. Other Beatles' album cover doesn't have the band's name on them, but this one doesn't even have the album's name. What a great cover for an incredible goodbye album.

Makes me wonder though, if that cover never came about and a band today pulled such a cover in 2014 would it forever be remembered as a historic album?

^^ Seeing the numerous pastiches that this serie of picture and the cover as well had, it's one of the best one, EVER, yes ! 

^ One of my all time favorite covers. I like it more than Sgt. Pepper's, which is also an iconic one.

That's a good question.

Probably not. There's many other factors aside from just the picture, which is already great. But it's a Beatles' album, and that makes it more important to begin with. Also, is not one of their first works: they were at the top for over half a decade by then. And that's another reason for the impact of such a simplistic concept for a cover: they COULD do it. Not any other band could have released an album without their name displayed on the cover, even less without the album's name in it. The Beatles were already so incredibly famous that they could do such a thing and the people would instantly who's LP was this by just looking at their picture. 

And I don't think any band of today could be able to do that.

And leaving that aside, musically is just one of the best albums they ever did. Considering how great the music it is, even such a great cover becomes a detail.

It also helps to give the LP an iconic condition the fact that is the last one they ever recorded (Let it Be came out later, but it was recorded before).

Whole different era of music and social construct. No way that would pass now indeed Oh gosh man, imagine someone like Rhianna doing her thing back in those days

Yes, too many different factors around it, not just the picture.
