10C to -10C (without winchill) suits me the best. Anything over double digits positive I start to hate.
THAT is crazy!

Just to remind you all about the existence of this:
And to say that hopefully it'll be up on iTunes, Spotify, etc. soon

That's on Parque Metropolitano, north-eastern part of it and is by the north-east of the city.
And yes, that's my bike
No, it doesn't, because postimage is being shitty to me again and I can't see it
...

Thanks!
OF COURSE IT DOES!!!
That must be from around 1958 or so. If you ant to listen to them:
The only song known credited to McCartney-Harrison. Sang by Lennon though.
And a song original by Buddy Holly. Again Lennon singing.
Both were recorded in 1958 by Percy Phillips, who had a "studio" at his home in Liverpool -"Phillips Sound Recording Service" - and recorded quite a number of local bands. There the band would record to a master tape, and if they had no objections with the result, the recording would be transferred to an acetate 78 rpm disc. It was one song per side.
The lineup back then was:
Note there was no bass player.

I was almost certain you knew but I was quite fascinated at the card. Just to see the humble beginnings of a band that would change the world of music as we know it.
LOL and nice, to see Lennon sing something by Buddy Holly is a tad surreal ![]()
And yes, I do notice no bass there sir
What ever happen to "Phillips Sound Recording Service" ?

Indeed! By then the band had been active for some less than 2 years and they mostly played Skiffle and adding more and more Rock n' Roll each time. Then they had a good number of lineup and name changes, though the core of Lennon-McCartney-Harrison was already established.
Why surreal? Lennon was a HUGE Buddy Holly fan, same as McCartney, and he was a big influence on them.
No idea
As far as I know he only recorded Liverpool local bands. The guy had a electric goods shop, so the recording studio was more of a leisure thing apparently.

I tried to say something witty in spanish with google translate, then I let it read it to me in English and it butchered it.
So no spanish from me.![]()

I'm curious, do you have a list of those name changes?
Glad to see the 3 core members stuck it thru though ![]()
For me it has to do with how one "major artist" influences another to become one of the same category ![]()
Interesting. I would quite enjoy to hear his prospective on the business considering who he worked with

The started as The Blackjacks somewhere around late 1956. It was Lennon's band at the time, with some school mates. Shortly after that same year they changed their name to The Quarrymen, because their High School was called Quarry Bank High School. By 1957 Lennon met Paul McCartney and invited him to join the band. Then George Harrison joined by 1958. They changed name again around 1959 for some tour dates around England. They were Johnny and the Moondogs by then and they all adopted stage names: John Lennon was "Long John", Paul McCartney was "Paul Ramon" (and this is where The Ramones took their name from), George Harrison was "Carl Harrison" (he was a big Carl Perkins fan).
Apparently they came back to The Quarrymen for a while, but by 1960 they started calling themselves The Beatals for a short time before changing it to The Silver Beetles. Again here's the influence of Buddy Holly who's band was called The Crickets. This one didn't last that long either and for their first trip to Hamburg in August they were already The Silver Beatles, or also sometimes Long John and The Silver Beatles. Allegedly Lennon had a dream of "a little man over a flaming pie who told him 'You will be The Beatles, with an A' ".
Also while in Hamburg they played as the backing band to Tony Sheridan calling themselves The Beat Brothers for some of those occasions.
Then by 1961 or so they had already dropped the "Silver" part and were already The Beatles.
Would be interesting indeed! I have no idea if there's any interview of him or anything.

I actually wouldn't of minded The Blackjacks if they stuck with that one
Thank you for the history behind it all, everything from the school influencing their name at one point to The Silver Beetles. I'm not sure that would of rolled off the tongue as well but maybe that because we are use to The Beatles now?
But what the heck; "a little man over a flaming pie who told him 'You will be The Beatles, with an A' ".
That part of the story takes the cake without question
Hmm, there goes that missed opportunity and insight ![]()

You're welcome!
The Blackjacks? I don't know... I guess it was kind of a generic name, since at least 2 other Liverpool bands had that name at one point. Pete Best's (who was their drummer before Ringo) band before The Beatles was called the Blackjacks for example.
And Beatles is a more clever name anyway - it keeps the Beetles pronunciation they wanted while also including the word Beat, which identified their sound, since they were part of the Mersey Beat context in Liverpool. It's also a unique name, much more than Beetles, even if there's only one letter of difference.
Well, the flaming pie thing probably isn't even real, but it's a great story!

See, it was such a good name that multiple bands made it their own ![]()
I can't tell you for how long I went with the spelling "Beetles" before I finally kicked out an E for the A ![]()
I kinda hope it's real. Almost sounds to odd to be made up out of thin air ![]()

Oh, but that's another problem then
This is the quote about it:
Quote“It came in a vision - a man appeared on a flaming pie and said unto them, 'From this day forward you are Beatles with an A.' Thank you Mister Man, they said, thanking him.”
I've seen it in many different sources so I guess it could be real. I should make some more research about it
