“He woke her then, and trembling and obedient, she ate that burning heart out of his hand. Weeping, I saw him then depart from me. Could he daily feel a stab of hunger for her? Find nourishment in the very sight of her? I think so. But would she see through the bars of his plight, and ache for him?”

How do you interpret this quote? it's from Dante Alighieri.

This is mentioned in the film Hannibal, btw.

They are wonderful 'horror' films.  Among the very best.

It's not actually directly from Dante Alighieri. It was only inspired on a chapter of his La Vita Nuova and it was adapted for the movie.

And I know they are very good movies, my mom is obsessed with The Silence of the Lambs but I've never had the courage of watching it.

I have no idea.  Did you study literature?  What type of literature do you like?

I would call the books, the tv show, and the movies more like black comedy/horror.  It makes a mockery of civilization.  Ridley Scott's Hannibal is brilliant and very funny to me but most of the audience at the time didn't get it.  Silence of the lambs is a classic and one of the best movies ever made.

In truth most horror films don't work for me.  I know too much about the details of war, that's why.   I'm very desensitized

I still like Aliens and The Thing though.  There are other films (psychological thrillers) that should really be called 'horror' even though nobody gets killed in them.

You can talk about horror movies all day long and I still wouldn't get a word of what you're saying I don't follow that genre so I believe your words!

And yes, actually I'm born and raised in Florence, the same of Dante's so it's kinda in my blood to know his works. tho yes, I studied Italian literature at school and university and graduated from university in English language and literature.

And I like English literature, young adults, dystopian novels.

Hannibal takes place and was filmed in Florence :-D

what are your favorite titles?

Due to my focus on the humanities as a hobby, I do not get to read literature but I appreciate it a great deal.  I like dystopian comics and film, which is largely sourced from literature anyway.  I read history more than anything else but I also like other fields.

Harry Potter saga above everything else.

Then, Jane Austen's bibliography, The Fault in Our Stars, The Selection saga, The Hunger Games, The Da Vinci Code, Me Before You, The Book Thief and The Lord of the Rings.

There are more but I can't recall them now
