On another board, I have a pic of Adriana as my signature and someone pointed her out saying how beautiful she was. Then another person agreed and then said she's dumb as hell though. What would give him that idea?????.... I could see in some of the clips she acts a lil goofy, but how does that make someone dumb as hell?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't think Adri is dumb, but for me it is kind of weird that her English is still so bad... i mean it is bad for someone who lives in the US for such a long time!

Adriana is skinny, but looking back at some of her early modeling work, it's sort of scary just how thin she actually was. If the scenario of women filling out and maturing well into their 20s applies to anyone, it's definitely her. She's definitely gained weight since then.It could apply to Mandy Moore as well. She is my favorite person to use as an example. 17-year-old Mandy Moore = toothpick. Not-17-anymore Mandy Moore = not a toothpick. Mandy has hips and breasts now that she didn't have when she was younger. Her face is fuller, and all of that stuff. Her development was sudden too. It was in the span of a year or two. She grew up and filled out.

My guess is that when Adriana is speaking English in public and the subject is complicated or she's a bit nervous, she thinks in a mixture of Brazilian (Portuguese) and English and then has to quickly translate the Brazilian bits into English (I do the same speaking French when I'm in France). I know from my own experience that it's more difficult to control your accent when you're focused on trying to get your meaning across.
Someone once said that they thought Adriana was C cup. Well, I found this picture and I really don't think she's a C cup. I think she's more like a B, she's obviously not wearing a bra and it's a recent picture, too.
and the reflex verb comes to play...the verb is flipped when it comes to spanish and portugese.

the post before yours....they were talking about her english and i commented on how the reflex verb comes to play when speaking in spanish or portugese.

I have no clue as to how intelligent Adriana is, since I obviously don't know her. However, I can tell you that it's a lot more difficult to learn English as a second language than you may think. And I doubt she has had much formal education which would make it twice as hard. With so much variance in the language from place to place, and high useage of slang it can be highly confusing trying learn it correctly. My point is that just because someone doesn't speak perfect English, it doesn't make them dumb.
Anyone know where thiago's been? I haven't seen him post in awhile.

You're right - it's very, very dificult to really master English as a second language. I take it as a sign of Adriana's intelligence that, despite the difficulties of the English language, she still manages to get her points across very well in the interviews I've seen her in.
I didn't mean to offend when i said that her speaking is not too good...
but my sis has been to the US for about a year and now she is speaking almost perfectly, though her english was not very "outstanding".
U know, i thought it must be easy to learn a language when you are surrounded by the words all the time, but i agree that it is harder for Adriana as she travels so much...
As i said i don't think that Adri is dumb! In my opinion she is very intelligent!
I just noticed Adriana is #1 on the Top 99 Most Desirable Women 2005 on askmen.com. That's great! She totally diserves it!
