I didn't mean to offend when i said that her speaking is not too good...

but my sis has been to the US for about a year and now she is speaking almost perfectly, though her english was not very "outstanding".

U know, i thought it must be easy to learn a language when you are surrounded by the words all the time, but i agree that it is harder for Adriana as she travels so much...

I just don't see Adriana's English as being bad and I don't have any difficulty understanding her...

Adriana Lima's English isn't bad at all. I don't have any problems understanding her at all also. The only thing is that it seems as if she doesn't know when someone is joking around or being sarcastic.

mica, that's been posted already, but thank you either way.

But if you compare it to Ale's, Gisele's or Heidi's it is not as well...

actually alessandra has the most americanized accent out of all of them....gisele's seems manish to me and adriana's is cute....thats another reason i love adriana so much its because of her accent....makes me want to cuddle with her.

What is "manish"?

What does that mean?

english has to be one of the hardest languages to learn...

i mean the damn language has words derived from all throughout europe for god's sake...

it's not a very consistent language either (e.g. i like to read vs i read a book.), but i guess some of that comes down to the origins of words from different cultures.

alessandra's voice kinda sounds man-ish/hoarse as well...

i definitely agree that adriana's accent is cute

Funny how the people who enjoy being the most insulting can't even bother to register.

But let's be honest: She has been modeling since she was 13, no? i have never read in her biography that she had a good school education, too. unlike for instance aishwarya she wasn't studying mediciene or something before she was discovered. her only "hope" to get a job was modeling. so it doesn't seem that she had any other outstanding features than "looking good".

for me that doesn't speak much for her intelligence.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Oh dear - run out of coffee this morning, have we?! Ok, some points you ought to be clear about: 1) Lacking in education in emphatically not the same thing as being unintelligent (and we've all come across people who are "well educated" but fundamentally stupid). 2) A girl needs more than good looks to succeed in the modern modelling world (the proof of this is all the pretty failures there are). 3) As I understand it, Adriana was discovered by the model scouts - she didn't seek them out. At age 15 she was offered the chance to pursue a career in New York; a chance, which, as she was a sensible girl, she took. 4) The nature of our world is such that in order to get some things (a very successful modelling career, say), we have to give up something else which may be valuable to us, but which we just can't have at the same time (a college education, say). Adriana made her choice, but there's no evidence that she couldn't have chosen the other path, if she'd wanted to.

Oh definitely...some of the stupidest people I've come across have been at my university...the epitome of educated idiots.

Alessandra's voice is way deep for a girl. I think Adriana's voice is low, too. I think Heidi speaks perfect English, as does Karolina Kurkova. From what I've seen of Gisele, she speaks very well too.

I'm not sure about her IQ, but i agree with you mameha and pyrrho, you guys do have a point. Intelligence isn't limited by education. IQ tests don't test how much common sense or how street-wise a person is, and to think of intelligence purely as knowledge acquired through education would be an ugly prejudice.

just my 2 cents.

Yeah, Alessandra's voice is almost as sexy as Scarlett Johansson's

PS. English is not that hard, because there aren't so many weird grammatical rules, no genders on nouns and stuff (and if you can't pick a good word in English you can just say "and stuff"). But speaking it accent free is a different story...

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

It's the (relative) freedom from grammatical structure that makes English easy to pick up but difficult to master. The other problem is that there are so many varieties of English. And then there's English spelling.

Yeah, that's true, I love Scarlett Johansson's voice!

And besides she is a wonderful actor, but i know this is the wrong thread...

But do you know what i would love to hear? Adriana with a french accent, because I think the French accent is the sexiest in the world! Hm, maybe one day French, the other day Brasilian?!
